Tonight, I was speaking to the person I will be living with next year and during the conversation,
he told me about this practise of writing the Guru Name or Chosen Deities Name over and over.
ie in my case: Om Karunamayi Namah Om Karunamayi Namah Om Karunamayi Namah Om Karunamayi Namah..
Does anyone know what the name of this practise is and what the benifits are? Supposedly, alot of good benifits come like all the boons will come etc.. I hope someone can help me. Jai Karunamayi!

  There is power or Shakthi in every word we utter. If we say 'pakoda' our tongue
  will salivate. When anyone calls you, donkey, u immediately show ur annoyance.
  
  
  Likewise, name of the god chanted correctly or incorrectly knowingly or unknowingly
  will give desired result. The potency of result may vary however depending upon our
  sincerity.
  
  Regarding likita japa, write down daily in a notebook your ista mantra or guru mantra
  for half an hour. When you write the mantra, observe mouna (Silence). Write the mantra
  clearly in ink. On sunday and holidays write this for one hour. This is likita japa. You
  can develop wonderful power of concentration. Incalculable spiritual benefits are derived
  from likita japa.
  
  In mantra writing, there is no restriction about any particular script. It may be written in
  any language.
