Hello everybody, I am not familiar with ilankai Thamil, but I have heard a few people talk it, and it has a Malayalam accent. TN Thamizh is a bit more out there, what are the differences, as far as words go? I want this discussion to involve TN Tamils, and ilankai Tamils, and both should give examples of words and phrases, so there can be comparing and contrasting. This should be a very interesting discussion.

Waves from Kerala is right and not from Tamil nadu.
Waves of Tamils came to Sri lanka later during the british rule.
Chola invasions are in history but they went back or assimilated with the Sinhalese in Pollanaruwa or Anuradhapura.
No Chola connection is so far established with any SL Tamil history.
Portugeuse ruled Sri Lanka (except Kandyan kingdom) for 140 years. Their records are clear evidences. They brought people from kerala for the Tobacco plantations.
Read S J Tambiah's history books on law.

Major difference between SL and TN Tamils is the lifestyle.
I think some SL Tamils are more violent than TN Tamils.
LTTE Tamils have killed over 10,000 fellow Tamils and have been blamed for wide spread gang violence in Canada.

Kumari Kandam is a farce and the DMK tried to float a theory of Farce but failed.
You guys think that History is like Tamil cinema.
Go and read the existing MUKKUVA LAW and THESAVALAMAI in Sri Lanka.

Theev people does not resemble any prominent caste group in Kerala being very muscular, fizzed haired and with flattened out thick lipped. They are similar to in appearance to Mukkulathors around Ramnathpuram area.
Kerala people can not live in a dry area like Jaffna except for the hunter- gatherer-fisher substratum of Keralites. But then even they are especially fishers do not show such proninent Negritto features.
Mr Kumar Ponnambalam and Prof. Hoole belong to a high caste section in Vellala group in Jaffna whose members show more opposite features to traditional high caste Tamil be he Vellala or Brahman who is distinguished by sharp mediterranian features.
If I am correct one learned Christian Vellala professor has even written a book on Vellalas stressing origin of Vellalas from Casteless Mukkulathors and there he has surmised that fair Periya Vellalas who used to dominate other Vellalas as the Progeny of European collonialists.
As I have seen such heavily build Vellalas are not found among the south indian or for that matter among dominent Nayar and Ezhava communities in Kerala

Fool Kajan...
Not only in Tellippalai, in other areas too Vellalas are pitch black.
Tellippalai is not a small place. Those WHITE Vellalas are not real vellalas.
If a person claim WHITE Vellala and Dravida, there is a problem coming.
Vellala people in India evolved from the caste of KALLANs who are BLACK people.
WHITE Vellalas is always a Joke. Think about the color of DRAVIDAS.
