Are the Indians in Trinidad and Guyana predominantly of Thamizh origin?

I have noticed a majority of Trinidad Indians, seem to have the South Indian Tamil/Kerala look, are they mainly of Thamizh origin?

//TN doesn't have the power to help these people with educating their mother //
Correction: TN doesn't have enough power nor the power to help it's migrated Thamizhans or other Thamizhans world-wide to learn their mother tonghue 'Thamizh'.

Sanjeev,
Surnames in the West Indies aren't valid like Indian surnames. As far as caste, pundits (Maharaj), come into play when it comes to caste in the Caribbean. Many people adopted surnames like Singh, Persaud, Narine, etc. A lot of these people with these adopted surnames have South Indian background, while those names are from the North.

Many of you would recall earlier in this thread and in the caste thread of Punnahai, I made statements to the effect - people change and so caste change in one's lifetime. I also argued in both threads that while Karma exists, so does caste alongside it. I wasn't saying that to demean anyone. It arose out my reasoning which offended many.
Here is recent evidence to support those statements oif mine mande many months ago: Go to:

Well, really why I made those statements is because the people from "India" look down on people in places like Guyana and Trinidad as always being "low caste".
For further evidence go see the Fiji and other threads made refenrece to in my thread "The treatemetn of Guyanese and Trini peole by Indians..."

Nedunchezhiyan,
I can't think of what story you are talking about. There has been so many I told over the year :). If you are talking about the one where I was referred to as wonderlady, or something like that, you should know that that story did not come from me. Its a story well known by all Hindus. Here is the proof:
http://www.panoramatv.ca/philBhajanananda/phil.htm
Its a funny story actually and I can see why Tamils are so sensitive and get upset :-).
However, you and other Tamils would be pelased to know that King Ravana had a very good brother (by character not only by his owning a temple and worshipping in it)living in Lanka too. When Hanumanji went looking for Sita, he could see no temple. The only one he came across was that owned by Ravana's brother where he (Ravana's brother) go to worship. So, the moral here also is, we should not judge one by his or her family.
