The people who never read or understood are
fighting to place it in Chennai. I do not know
why Annadurai placed it in Chennai. The right
place for that is Madurai. Not only that, Madurai
is the only right place to be a capital of TN not
Chennai. Karunanithi totally has/had more than
three wives and he is fighting for Kannagi statue
saying he is trying to save Tamil cultural heritage. Kannagi stood for Justice and she
is a symbol of our cultural heritage. Karunanithi
is having no right to talk about Tamil cultural
heritage as he is not practising 'Oruvanukku oruthi'.

  -- The whole topic reminds me of the story of the wolf and the lamb. You guys will always find an excuse and blame brahmins for ploitics, government, to education and poverty.

  Here is the point:
  
  1. If Jj has said that, the statue will be placed in the place where it was before, then common sense will tell that its removal was an accident. SHe never said that
  
  2. No brahmin has condemned the removal of the kannagi statue. Is it because the brahmins hate the dravidian virute, the kannagi statue represented?
  
  3. FYI: If bharathiyar statue is met with such an end, i'll cry foul too, because bharathiyar stood for a virtue(allow be to call it dravidian, cos you guys disown him anyway) which we dravidians appreciate.
  
  4. I told repeatedly, i dont care EVEN if kannagi lived or not. Just the statue conveying a worthy virtue has been intentionally soiled and brahmins seem to enjoy the end result and that's a trubling trend in TN.

  If what JJ does represent brahmin virtue (or the lack of it), then what MK did should represent dravidian virtue. May be all dravidian should have multiple wifes and swindle the masses. Poor dravidian women are bound by the Kannagi virtue.
  Also, the dravidians are not opposed to idol worship and superstition as lonmg as the idol is that of a stry book heroine, Kannagi. May be the brahmins should name their godesses Seetha patti, Komathi etc.

  By the way i am a high school teacher in Tamil nadu, pay my taxes regularly and run classes for disadvantaged students too and caste my vote for pro social justice forces. This is what i can do at present but hope to do more,I was not born in the family of rich Tamilnadu politicians or some NRI Dollar rich tamil like you. May i now ask , why are you makin so much noise, you are another run away tamil who has long forgotten tamilnadu.   A warning to those who are sending money to India (from personal experience).
  1. If you are giving money to a govt. instituition as a college or a hospital for a specific purpose (painting, furniture, computors ) one has to get permission from the concerned minister to accept foreign exchange. In my case it was the health minister. The minister then wanted the money in $ and in cash. Do not do it .Even when you give check The money completely disappears after collection and there are no computors and no painting. If the minister is the same on your next visit you will not get an appointment or if it is a new minister he does not know about it but asks for more foreign exchange.
  2. NGO's. All private organizations have to get permission to get money in foreign exchange, For that privilege the bribe is heavy and I know a lot of small schools for disabled etc who are not able to pay that bribe.
  3. If you are giving to well established NGO.s a part of the money goes in bribes.
  
  4.Whenever there is a clamity like an earthquake, or kashmir war, and money is collected, expensive perfumes, air conditioners, carpets and even shoes disappear from the elite stores in Delhi and other state capitals. The officials and ministers have a field day with the manna from heaven.The shopkeepers and ministers always hope that there will be more catastrophies, If there is peace then they make trips to U.S. to collect money for projects ( which will eventually end up in their pocket)
  5. Hindu temples have to pass on the money to Dept of Hindu religeous endowments which is a government department. However one can give to christian and Muslim religeous places directly and there are no restrictions there. Money flows from Saudi to madrassas and mosques and to churches from Rev.Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. So my advise is that do NOT put money in a hundi or give to temple unless you want Dr. Shtalin to import another jacuzzi from Singapore.
  The best charity is local charity where you live. You also get a tax deduction and the tax auditors are quite strict as recently they found stealing in many charitable organizations like United Fund.
  Another way is to educate a relative or someone you know. This way your money is useful. I am speaking from personal experience . Do not get burned. This scenerio is not confined to Tamil Nadu but it is the same all over INDIA.It is a sad situation but if you are sending money to charities in India you are only helping people like Dr. Kalaignar and Dr.JJ and their relatives in North America .

  Dr.Hero has hit the nail on its head. The deterioration started with Dr. Arignar Anna. Kamraj was an uneducated person but his heart was in the right place and he had high principles. He only wanted to improve the lot of his people. Dr. Anna surrounded himself with the rowdy elements of society the so called low lifers,the burglers, thieves, arsonists, rapists etc and they get elected by preaching hatreds. They care a damn about the people . The main aim is Get Rich Quick.

  Only God knows what charity you & i do. To me, if anyone is a charitable person, he/she will be uniting people and not dividing the socitey using caste. What good is anybody's religiousity if the character and conscience is bad.

  I accept what u say 'oruvannaku oruthi' That's sure is our culture..but the better place for it may be Chennai..there is political things why it's good to be in Chennai..maybe i guess..but i guess it's should replaced where they took it.
