The saying Kalviyil periyavar Kambar is very significant. In the 10000 songs of Kamban, we have powerful poetry, highest philosophy, spiritual lessons, social images, celebration of values such as Truth, and adequate material for our refinement. In the quest towards universalization of Tamil culture and in the quest of humanity towards perfection, Kamban's work is a great milestone.

It is time that the Tamils enshrine Kamban in their heart and pay homage to this great spirit.

  I have not gone through all the poems of Kambar. But sure, out of which i have, Kambar has his own position in the tamil literary arena. to cite some examples of his lines, "kadanpattaar nenjam pol kalanginaan ilangai vendhan" " thagaisaal thambi" etc. are of peculiar philsophical frequency.
