One of the central concepts of Christianity is forgiveness. The Bible, in fact, declares that God forgives for your sin according to how much you forgive others. When it comes to reconciliation, the LTTE is beyond hope. Its views of the Sinhala people have changed little sicne it came into being. Visiting an LTTE site on the Net, you will see how the LTTE stills talks of 1956 and 1977. It does not mention how more than 100,000 Tamils live peacefully with Sinhalese in Colombo. How both groups go to school together, as well as share jobs and the same luxuries. Instead, the LTTE derides the SL government for harassing Tamils in Colombo; really, a necessary security measure- the LTTE has bombed the city for decades.
The LTTE holds grudges; it wishes to hold these grudges long enough for a Tamil Eelam. It will never pursue reconciliation with the Sinhala people because that would only show the hypocrisy in establishing Tamil Eelam. The LTTE functions on nationalism alone; it uses nationalism to justify violence.

  forgiveness is only possible is the 'forgiven' is a chaNGED PERSON. forgiveness is possible in south africa because the whites are willing to accept atleast in part for the grieveiences caused.
  forgiveness is a two way processs
  cant see anything like that in sri lanka

  I would be glad if the LTTE became fully Christian. Atleast then they would learn to forgive. No one denies past mistakes. If the blacks were pushed down south from Pakistan-Afghanistan, it happened centuries ago. What is the necessity to politicize history now? Aren't there better things in life to deal with - poverty, superstition, technology improvement and what not? Those who have already moved to developed countries cannot be expected to understand that of course. But they cud do with some frequent visits to the sub-continent and experience living conditions there for themselves.

  Really? What happened to the peace when the Singhalese put newborn babies in the hot tar or sexually absued Thamizh womens and mens in public? Perhaps when they colonized Thamizh lands and killed Thamizh villagers in hundreds of scale?! The Thamizhans are living peacefully in Colombo because there is a Thamizh Power in Thamizheezham that would make the Singhalese pay if something were to happen to the Thamizhars in Coloumbo or anywhere else in Eezham. Not only that the Singhalese Government want to put a good face in front of the World!
