as far as i know i think the jewish traditional calender and the tamil panchangam are similar. i also think the tamils are the only ones who cross their hands over their chest in front of elders as a mark of respect just like the representation of most gods / godesses of the egyptian pantheon. tamil astrology also has the prasna way of prediction, a concept used in ancient middle-eastern cultures as well. siva / lingam has references in the egyptian book of the dead. well, the world is smaller than v tend 2 think and its peoples are more closely related than v like to think. only whn ppl like to make themselves exclusive, have a tendency for divisiveness (ego problem??), and make claims (superiority complex??) then problems arise. astrology is a v.interseting predictive science.

i don't know much abt astrology but from what i gather there is not much of diff in northindian and southindian horoscopes, only NI system uses a rectangle and SI uses a square chart. representation of planets is the same. most asian panchangams (calenders) / cultures are based on the moon (deciding on auspicious time, etc) whereas western system is the only one that's a bit diff as it is based on the sun. most indian systems of astrology may differ in a few mild ways but the core is almost the same. tamil, telugu, kerala, bengali, northindian panchangams (method of calculations) r all a wee bit diff from each other, that's why they seem as diff.

Thamizh Astrology differ from the Northenairs. Most of the Astrological works are lost or hidden. The Aryans system is similar to the Greek and Europeans. Whereas Thamizh Astrological system differ. However it's no longer in use. Thamizhans probably had a good way to make calculations than what Aryans have.

Dravidism and hinduism are two different things.
Hinduism is aryan stuff came from north or elsewhere. Whereas dravidism and tamil is definately different. Most of dravid sudras of today were slaves of brahmin hindus who came to dravid land and ruled them. Brahmins even stole tamil language, literature(including thirukural), heritage etc and named it as Hindu stuff. Now it is one for to guess that what Dravidians were? they were either Jains or budhist. Budhist out ofquestion since no buddhist heritage in in south. But there are thousands or ruined and converted jain temples still exist .
Also Tamil was never part of Sanskrit.Tamil was created by Dravidian-jain culture out of evolution of brahmi script. Also TAmil astrology is from the same culture.

Let us discuss on relavent subject rather than foolish and off the track topics.
Tamil astrology had been there since the time immemorial.
There are Siddha text, "Pulippaani 300" and "Bhiraangi (?) munivar 300" on astrology.
But nothing like 'Sukar naadi'.
Ad there had also been translaions like 'Orai Shastram' by, Lingan, this was 100 years old text and is a translation of Varahamihira's text.
Apart from this, we have got , Panchapatchi Shastram, Thodukuri Shastram, etc
