I would like to know why Karthikai Deepam is celebrated?

  I am not going into their other aspects but only pointing out to this anomaly.
  
  After all this, do not say that all this is also only due to the "brain washing" of brahmins over centuries. There cannot be a more moronic reply than that.

  i agree with you that all those who visit temples are mostly non-brahmins.problems are not with people but with the philosophical root of religiuos texts(all reliogion).if the religious texts ask its devottee to sacrifice cattle and to waste food stuffs ,religious minded -fellows ,certainly,will do it.first we have to prevent R.texts that teach these kind of foolish things

  all religious leaders should declare that god (?) does not wnt food from man.but no one will do it, becuse the stomachs of the lasiest religious fellows(all religions) cannot be filled, the collection of money wiil be decreased.these religious fellows also wiil have to work like other.is it possible for theme who have lived off others food?.that is why i am telling taht religions are battle fields where idlers fight for their livelihood.

  No Mr.Anand we dont need to compromise our ideology for anything and anybody. The thing we criticize more about Hinduism is it has much filthy things than anyother. I have to read Bible and kuran before criticize these. Since I am born in Hindu religion I know something about it and easy to criticize.   Mr. Pagutharivalan: Hindu religion is more than 5000 years old..that's why u may not find in texts...that too..who told you that Hindu is a Brahmin religion. Brahmins are just part of Hindu religion.
  
  Nobody made Brahmins intelligent by magic. Because of their way of education, lifestyle, unique way of thinking, meditation are other techniques they were so. Others chose different professions which are more physical...trade etc. Even now brahmins are good in education but not in business.
  
  So it is unfair to single out brahmins who are just 2% in population that too not much in power.
