’Trincomalee Hindu temple lands encroached’
The Trincomalee District Young Men Hindu Association (TDYMHA) Tuesday brought to the notice of the Hindu Religious Affairs Minister of Sri Lanka that lands belonging to several Hindu temples in the Trincomalee district are being unlawfully occupied by members of the majority community of the country, thus depriving the income from the lands to these temples, sources said
The general secretary of the TDYMHA, Mr.C.Sivapathasundaram, gave detailed accounts of such temples in the presence of the Hindu Religious Affairs Minister, Mr. T.Maheswaran, who attended an event Tuesday at Trincomalee Pathirakali Ambal Wedding Hall and handed over cheques to managements of fifty-two Hindu temples and Hindu religious institutions in the Trincomalee district. A sum of two million rupees was handed out to the temples, sources said.
Mr.Sivapathasundaram said lands of the Trincomalee Madathady historic Veerakathy Pilliayar Temple have been encroached by majority community members. “Peace will not come to Madathady area in Trincomalee, even though peace prevails elsewhere in the island, due to this encroachment of Hindu temple lands,” he stressed.
He added that lands of Hindu temples from Sinnathoduwai Pilliayar Temple in Trincomalee town to several temples in Nilaveli north of the eastern port city have been encroached by Sinhalese people.
Mr. Sivapathasuntharam pointed out to the Minister that the lands used by Hindu temples for water-cutting ceremonies in the Trincomalee Back bay seashore of Kottukinatady- Uyanthapadu for several centuries are in the hands of the majority community. They have put a settlement called ‘Samudragama.’
He requested the minister to take immediate steps to declare the historic Koneswaram temple a sacred area.
Mr.K.Paramalingam, the additional secretary to the Hindu Religious Affairs Ministry, said that about four thousand Hindu temples and religious institutions have been completely destroyed or damaged in the war. He added that his Ministry has taken steps to reconstruct these temples and uplift the living standard of Hindus.
Minister Maheswaran said that, this year his ministry is to get one hundred million rupees for renovating destroyed Hindu temples in the Northeast province. Of that amount, about fifty million rupees have already been released to his ministry.
Trincomalee Divisional Secretary, Mr. Sundaram Arumainayagam, presided over the event. The chief priest of the Trincomalee Pathirakali Ambal Temple, Bramasiri S.Ravichandrakurukkal, blessed the occasion, sources said.

Well your stupidity sure scares me kundi! LOL! You are a typical fanatic who thinks only Tamils suffer! Typical Ilankai Tamil Hindu attitude. Think about other people for a change and then maybe others will think about you. It is always the Singhalese, or the Muslims, or the British or the Burghers or the Malays etc etc fault, never the Ilankai Tamils'. Unless you learn to accept your own faults (which are humongous) you will never be able to fix any problems. Amen to that!
Look at the original aritcle. What a load of racist trash but you have nothing to say about that. Fancy white people saying they dont want black people "encroaching" on their land - what racism.....but this is the Ilankai Tamil Hindu mentiality to all non-Tamils. Maybe the Singhalese and Muslims should complain about the thousands aand thousands of Tamils who have "encroached" Colombo and kick up a stick about it!
.........Send them back to the kennels in Ethiopian Jaffna?
Get the hell out of Wellawatte, Dehiwala, Negombo, Galle, Kandy etc etc if you have a problem with Singhalese or Muslims living in the North East!
LOL!

Kandukkondain,
YOU IDIOT! I never said anything about Sinhalese and Muslims living anywhere. I am pointing out the fact that while you talk about what some extremist Tamils did to Sinhalese, you have nothing to say about what happened to the 60,000 Tamils. Another thing, I saw your boorish statement that the Tamils, "asked for it". Why not you start thinking about the innocent Tamils and Sinhalese people you @$$holes butchered/murdered before you start talking about Tamils.
>>kundi<<
Takes one to know one, doofus!

Kandukondain,
"Maybe the Singhalese and Muslims should complain about the thousands aand thousands of Tamils who have "encroached" Colombo and kick up a stick about it!"
The topic of this thread is not specifically about non-Tamils 'encroaching' on Tamil lands, but specifically on the precincts of Hindu temples. 'Encroachment' on religious property has been going on in Sri Lanka ever since the colonial days. The Kataragama devale, which has virtually nothing to do with Islam is controlled by Muslims. One of the most holiest Buddhist sites, that commemorating Viharamahadevi is also run by Muslims. All the Buddhist lands in Kelaniya were seized by the Catholics during the colonial era and not even the 'Sinhala-Only' movement was able to change this reality.
Outside of Sri Lanka it has been much worse. Buddha Gaya, the most holiest Buddhist site in the world is practically controlled by Hindus. You know about what happened to the Bamiyan statues in Afghanistan. Given this reality, I cannot help but empathize with the plight of the Hindu sites in northern SL. I would not wish what has happened to our beloved sites to happen to others'.
The Tamilnet story above does not give the 'majority community's' side of the story, but then again I never really considered Tamilnet to be even remotely impartial. However, that is not a good justification to insult Hinduism or the religious practices of Tamils.

That is not true. It is partially controlled by Theravada Buddhists as well. President Kalam visited Buddha Gaya.

They deserve to be eliminated. The Taliban and the Mullahs are no.1 jackasses in the world.
