Can anyone tell me the origin of Pallars?

  Does the word Palla means from marshes or low lying lands which were not that much suitable to irrigated agriculture as the just little higher lying land irrigated and cultivated by Vellalas.

  Pallars were trained in both war field and battle field. "Vellala" came from" velaan "culture. kaikolar are well in weaving, chanars in toddy tapping, goldsmiths in making ornaments, etc.,

  Dravidis all originated from Shramana cult, later many or mostly converted to Shaivism. The origin of Tamilians or pallars were all belonging to main community called Nainars. Most of the community diverted to different professions and accordingly there were known as thevars, mudaliars, pallars or whatever you name it depending on the region and profession with the difference of their religious habits which differed in place to place though all were bannered under the name Hindu later.
