my last name is savenaya. My parents are Dutch.
My father, grandfather and i look indian. The Dutch colonized Sri Lanka in 1600.s. Some of the sailors took native wives back to Holland. Could i be of indian decent. (Sri Lanka was part of India at one time. The Dutch booted out the portugese, then the British booted out the Dutch.)
Anyway, does anyone know anything about those wives? Name, caste, religion? Could my name , savenaya, be related to ::"Vannya"? Was there a suffix "Sa" in the tamil language? Any thoughts?
