WEll, I dont know if this has been already discussed in this forum.But we are trying to write a book in English on Thevars.

The available books are in Tamil and contain less historical data.

I would like to request forumhubbers to share the names of the books in tamil on Agamudaiyars,Maravars,Kallars .Also on personalities like Pooli thevan, Marudu Pandiar,Kizhavan Sethu Pathy,Ramanatha puram Kings,Velu Nachiar.

Any information on Thevars in Srilanka also would be helpful. I remember Raveen once mentioning that in Jaffna a street by name Agambadiar Veedhi is there.

Any net resources also ,if you know .

  S i do agree Nadars are less aggressive as its 85% female dominated society. If you take my Thatha family, he is having 22 paethi "grand daughter" and 4 paeran Grandson. I myself found the difference when i went to Hostel for B.E education.
  
  I also found myself very much associated with Thriunelveli/Kanyakumari nadars and maravars in terms of commitment in gang / Senior-Junior fights, body building.

  Pallar prime job now is ploughing and their clash with Thevars is an unsolved equation of Pandian - Chozhan fight. Hope you know Chozha once overpowered Pandian and that lasted only for a shortwhile. To take revenge pandians destroyed the chola army and kept them out of pandian society [meaning out of village, festivals, paddy fields]and in the course of time pallar are forced to do service jobs and during Indian constituion forming they were enlisted in SC list.
  
  More over Vanniars are soldiers of Chozha dynasty and they have physical resemblence with Pallars of south.

  In Unicode system, Tamil has been allocated only 128 character positions. Unicode system is using iscii ( Central goverment's Indian lanaguge encoding standard). iscii has lot of bugs and also not-efficient for tamil (approxmately 3-times slower). please read below the articles and sign the petition. Tamil has already got lot of efficient encoding sytesm, which are already in use. Unicode is an international standard, So an efficient encoding system has to be used for tamil. So we have to raise our voice to get unicode to be re-constructed for tamil (Which is highly feasible) ...

  As far as i know "Thevar" was a term used in our epics to mention aryan gods who live and administer heaven.
  It is also a community name who constitute 60% of South TN. Basically "Maravars", "Servai", "Kallar" fall in this category. These people are followers of shiva by religion and corps of Pandian Army. Maravars will combat Head-on. Servai are Police force, they will be security guards. Kallar will do the warfare of stealing enemy settlements and bring them to war which is a old Tamil warfare as sung in many of the paranis.
  The title "Thevar" was given to them when they safe gauarded jewels, Idol and wealth of Madurai Meenakshi Amman at the time of Muslim+Naicker invasion. They gave protection by hiding them at Ramanatha puram district. Still now you can find few temples at this district which comes under Madurai meenakshi amman adminstration.
  Later Naickers disintegrated the Pandian army by bribing these people with beautiful females brought for this purpose from Sourastra. Few joined Naicker army and fought against their own people.
  Later some of these Maravar Chieftain become small kings and few are well known for their fight against British.
  on personal matters they are so powerful when they are in group and they will always be and will easily form a group with their high degree of caste feelings.
  Maravars and Servais form good friends with only few communities and will stand united until the end. when seperated from their group, Individualy they are just an ordinary man and not that powerful as they are in group.

  In a Nadar's Hub u mentioned one word that hurt's me like a thorn in the rose.
  ""we will not entertain relation's with the nadars of the south"" Why?r we inferior than u.r u were dominant??

  THEVARS WERE THE ARYAN GODS .WHAT ABOUT DEVENDRA? THERE MUST BE SOME RELATIONS EARLIER.HOW TO STOP THE FIGHTING BETWEEN DEVENDRA KULA VELLALAR [PALLAR]AND MUKKULATHOR[THEVAR]?THEVARS ALSO HAVING MORE NUMBER OF ILLITTATRS LIKE DEVENDRAS.THEIR DIFFERENCE IS MARGINAL IN MOST OF THE AREAS. BECAUSE OF "MEDIA" THE GAP BECOME WIDE. DEVENDRAS ALSO TO BE INCLUDED IN BC LIST. TAMILNADU WOULD LIKE TO SEE "VELLAIATHEVAN AND SUNDARALINGA DEVENDRAN "TOGETHER.

  Basically, most of the south bourn nadars would be chritianised and moreover to avoid split in the wealth. Nothing like superior and inferior.
