I am a Tamil speaking Hindu female residing in Cape Town, South Africa and I would like to know the origin of my surname 'Manthree'. I do believe that since my ancestors arrived in South Africa, the spelling of my surname has changed. Any information regarding this would be immensely appreciated.

There are two kinds of pillais in kerala itself. Significant number of nairs have Pillai as their surname. The tamils who have migrated as recent as 300 years are still known as Vellala Pillai in Kerala and are mostly bilingual. They have not forgotten Tamil.

Kataaree? Gosh, that's an obnoxious jungle witch!! It's an evil ghostlike being with sharp fangs and preys on people who dare trespass the forest! Usually, it's seen as female.
