Dear Readers,
We know, Tamils are today living in many parts of the World both in the West and East.
Many of them permanently settled in those parts of the World, who have gone there seeking green pastures in the recent fifty years, and very much more after 1983 from Sri Lanka, in addition to many Tamils from India - taken to various countries in the last 200 years, where the Colonial Masters like Portugese, Dutch, French and English - made them to work for them in their enterprises in those countries.
Then we have the traditional homelands of the Tamils where they lived over many hundred of years.
It will be very interesting to know about these Tamils permanently settled in various countries,
of the World, and I wish to Call the Tamils World over, to write very briefly on the History of the Tamil Community, in their Countries in this thread
for the benefit of all who are interested in same.
It will be also better if the Writers from these countries, gives details on the "Tamil Websites" of their Countries, which speaks more on the Tamils in these regions.

Tamil cultural revival in Kerala?

Since my last visit, it seems as if Kerala is going back to its Tamil roots both religiously and culturally.
Along the roadsides, brand new temples in the gopuram/terracotta styles are now favored all over the place. Usually painted temples are typical of TN only, but now it is very common in Kerala, and if not the temple itself, the temple entrance is encrusted with terracotta figures.
And these aren't seen just near the TN border, these are commonly found in places like Alappuzha, Kumarakom, Changanassery, etc. Temples dedicated to PechiAmman, KaaliAmman, and numerous MaariAmman temples. The traditional tiled temples don't seem to be favoured anymore. Also small shrines dedicated to Murukan are found all over the place.
Also, the festival processions are more that of TN. Plus other rituals are being revived like goat sacrifices; thookkam is also becoming common in Bhagavathiamman temples, etc.
Also Malayalam movies these days usually have some kind of Tamil link.

Umm there is 200,000 Tamils in Canada and all of them are refugess and some came for study. I would say most of them are under Refugees. In Sri Lanaka there is 5 million Tamils which is 0.5 'Kodi' one 'Kodi' In Tamil = 10 millions.
In malaysia the population is 771,000?? In Tamil Nadu there is 55 millions and in other states of India include about 5-7 millions. Countries which Tamils being as Refugees tamils are ethnic due to lot of Tamils who changed their culture except some countries where they can get to know who they are and where'd they come from. England Have 300,000 Tamils. If malaysia had 771k Tamils then it'll be more than 1 million now.

We can see Tamil scripts(even Tamil numbers) in Mauritian currency. But, most of the Mauritius Tamils lost their mother language. Any serious step has been to be taken to revive Tamil language in Mauritius, before the Tamil scripts
removed from the Rupee note. It's possible only to people and government of Tamil Nadu.

Dear Mauritian,
We are all aware that the Seventh International Conferance - Seminar on Tamil Studies was held in Mauritius.
It is during this time we were made aware that the Mauritian Currency were the only currency in the World, which also had the Tamil Numerals on them indicating the respective currency value.
The credit goes to the Mauritian Goverment and the Mauritian Tamils in this connection.

"....In South Africa, Indians came to the country as indentured labourers in the 1800's. Almost all of them were Tamils.
Many of the north Indians who were much more financially secure came later.
Despite starting off with nothing, Tamils in South Africa produced one of the best education systems in the world during the South African apartheid regime.
Amongst the Indian community, it was the Tamils who assimilated with the indiginous black people much more than other Indians.
It was/is the Tamils who were the first to rid itself of the north Indian perpetuated caste system.
These so-called "backward" people have also proven to be much more eloquent than their north Indian counterparts.
In South Africa almost all leading Indian television news anchors are Tamil. The BBC also has a similar scenario....."

I recently heard that there is a large group of Sri Lankan Tamils many of them as Doctors (Medical Practisioners)and others, and Indian Tamils many of them as Computer & IT Specialists and others, presently living in the regions known as Beverly Hills & Lanchester in California, in North America.
We like to know more of same from anyone living in California, or from one who knows much of same for the benefit of the Readers.
