Fellow tamil brethern,
This term of brethern , constitutes all of whom are tamilians,born to tamil parents,and includes tamil hindus,tamil muslims, tamil christians,tamils living in TN and tamils living outside TN.I have no partiality against anybody following under the above category.
We have spoken a lot about our past glorious days of pompous and cultural greatness.Now I'm sure with the combined efforts of all u brothers, it will not be an hard task to rebuild our past days.
The first step towards building a greater and better TN, let all join our hands, forget our differences within us.let's not slay our fellow brothers, brahmin(I strictly don't want that to happen in this thread).
To our brahmin brothers, do not hold any hatred towards our country, It's our place , we all share the same feeling , after all we all our brothers.
In this thread ,let all discuss the ways by which we could reform TN ,contribute ur ideas, our rath and ur frustration about isssues realting tamil nadu.who knows someday one of us, may take these ideas, to build a better Tamil nadu.So friends ,start contributing.

  I know my Tamil very well... I only said that because in TN (I don't know where u are) we are forced to use the 'Periyarised' Tamil for 40 years now... Ex: 'kiruttinan' for 'krishnan', 'arikiruttinan' for 'harikrishnan' can u refuse this?
  
  Ha ha ha ha ha ha : At last someone has realised the true Tamil!!! All these days I have been used to the 'Periyarised' Tamil which abhors 'ha'.   Tamil grammar starting from TolkAppiyam allows for distinguishing
  between "k" and "g/h", "c" and "J/j", "T (.t)" and "D (.d)",
  "t" and "d","p" and "b", etc., in speech, EVEN THOUGH
  THEY ARE WRITTEN ONLY AS "k", "c", "T", "t", "p" respectively.
  These letters are called 'hard' consonants - vallinam in tamil.
  But kh, gh etc., sounds are alien to Tamil.
  
  According to the rules,
  a) when the hard consonants occur in the word in a
  non-initial position and not surrounded by another hard
  consonant, they are pronounced 'soft'.
  
  b) For the doubling 'hard' consonants in a non-initial position,
  they are pronounced as written, (ie 'hard').
  
  c) Hard consonants do not get pronounced
  soft when they are the first letters of the word.
  
  The rule is simple and always followed intuitively.
  
  Examples:
  Writing Pronounced as
  **************** ***************
  ka + G +kai kaGgai (Ganges) (k is pronounced as g)
  a + G + ku aGgu (there) (k pronounced as g)
  
  taa + k + ka +m taakkam (impact) (Note the "k""k")
  taa + ka + m taaham (thirst) (Note there only one "k")(k->h)
  
  pa + c +cai paccai (green) (Note doubling c)
  pa + J + cu (cotton) paJju (cotton) (Note the only c)
  
  paa + T + Tu paaTTu (song) (Note doubling T)
  paa + Tu paaDu (to sing) (Note the only T)
  
  vi + tai vidai (seed) (one t)
  vi + t + tai vittai (vidyA) (Double t)
  
  a + m + pu ambu (arrow) (one p)
  ka + m + pa + n kamban, a great poet (one p)
  a + p + pa + n appan, dad or a dear person (double p)
  
  and so on.
  
  "k" as a non-first letter of a word and for single
  occurence, has other sounds too, eg., pi + Ra + ku (piRaku = later)
  is pronounced as "piRahu". North of Madurai, c is pronounced as s.
  
  ++ c, T, t, p. Tamil resistance to include
  ++ these additional characters is because it would lead to excessive use
  ++ of Sanskrit words and native Tamil/Dravidian words will face extinction,

  The article was interesting to read but the language as spoken by generations of my ancestors deifiniteley is what I speak and so I still stick to azhagu no matter what u say for the plain reason that the "ha" sound of the last letter reminds me people from S TN where they say it like that. For an N Tamilian liek me its always azhagu or azhagan whatever...

  See that's what I am saying, for you azhagu will sound more beautiful and for me azhahu sounds more beautiful.
  
  I have no problem with people mispronouncing the language although it will be good if we all strive to pronounce it better like we strive to improve our English pronunciation.
  
  I do take strong exception though to the TV anchors mispronouncing tamil. If they cannot pronounce Tamil properly, they should not be in that job. Lay people I really don't worry about because however well we pronounce Tamil we still speak it colloquially which is very different from written Tamil.
