I heard that in Purulia district of West Bengal
Tamil Iyangars are living in good number. They
had been migrated from Tamil Nadu few centuries
ago by a Bengal king. Nowadays, they almost gave
up Tamil language.
Anybody knows further detail about them?

  Yes, K Govindacharya of the BJP is a Tamil Iyengar of West Bengal. They were invited to that region around Ramanuja's time. Most of the Vaishnava saints of West Bengal were inspired by the Vaishnavism of The Alwars which Ramanuja spread all over india. some of the Bengal saints include Chaitanya and Sankaradeva of Assam.

  If I remember right, I had mentioned Iyengars of Bengal with above history about three years back.
  It is very much interesting to know .Not much is known about them except, nowadays, they have been taking brides from South India.
  
  Similarly, HAVELI Vaishnavites of Gujarat are decendents of Vallabhacharya.They are known as Mukhiya jis.
  They marry Telugu Brahmins from Andhra but they also marry internally.
  They have totally become Gujaratis .
  Similar is the case of Saurashtrians in Tamilnadu.

  Presently i live in north east. This is news to me.Ofcourse there are a lot of tamils there who have come from burma. They dont even know as to from which part of tamilnadu their ancestors hailed from. We guess only by asking their surnames(caste). There are so many thevars,chettiars, vanniars, naidus here. Tomorrow I am moving back. Send me a mail if you are living in north east.

  Both tamil and sanskrit civilizations are equally great.One is not inferior to another.I think it is the tamils who first started to deride sanskrit during the dravidian movement.As many have said it might have been necessary at that time but now I don't think it is there and so sanskritists whould stop deriding tamil.
