intercaste marriages are quite on the increase today.just a day ago,i saw the daughter of a pakthu vittu mami spending hours with a boy,on the beach.the couple were glued to each other.can people provide details on the different kinds of intercaste marriages of tamils.among brahmins and non brahmins who are both tamils,the knd of intercaste marriages i have seen to be common is between a brahmin and a chetiar,though there are other marriages too.how long do these marriages last,how much do the couples compromise with each other.how many of them are arranged marriages?

  I am sure you are following the same profession as your ancestors follwed 3 or 4 generations ago. The whole world is moving and you wanted to live in 10th century. First caste system is bogus and it is man created. Second Aryan castes Brahmin, kshatria and Vaisya are not Indian, they were super imposed on Indian society. After Independance, India failed to create 100% literacy and full employment. If we had no one would be talking about this stupid castes.

  you do. bhagavad geetha says
  'chathurvarnyam maya sristam guna karma vibhagashaha'
  means caste is imaginary which classified under
  behaviour and job.
  moreover what you have said 'intercaste marriages
  destroys culture.'
  then see sreekrishna is yadav an OBC.
  but he married radha a kshatriya.

  I have often heard that Lord Krishna spefically said that caste is not based on birth, but actions. Is this really in the Bhagavad Gita and where?

  so even in olden days they were more united and equal.
  
  so it justifies my thinking that some sect of the community like thieves were assumed the lowest class.
