'ubayam' means sponsered..I have seen in some temples..on a tube light written "Upayam :so on so" in big black letters,propably it blocks half of the light

Milton:
You have summed up the torture of 'Ubayadarars' rather well; LOL at >>blocks half of the light<< It's a sickening sight to see a wall full of patrons !

Kattalai?
Any connection with ubayam and Kattalai?
Kattalai = command or order
I guess ubayam also means help.

(aRak)kattalai is used to mean a kind of 'corpus' fund, where Ubayam begins from half-lit tube-light onwards :-)
The word KattaLai used in this context, does not mean Order/ Command.
Milton, correct me if I am wrong.
