does anyone know whatever became of those non-brahmins and SCs that bharathiyar supposedly converted to brahmins, by giving them poonal and brahmopadesam??
are they recognised as brahmins today or did they revert to their former status after his death?

  For information regarding Aryan invasion and all visit this site ...http://www.dalitstan.org/tamil/index.html, second of all if religion is interpreted as 'matham' or 'samayam' in Thamizh then it's wrong ....because there are no words for the term religion in Thamizh rather we have 'neri' and stop your jainism things. Jainism came with Buddhism and at first these monks tried to destroy Thamizh by burning all Thamizh Literary and literacy and history which was on palm leaf. When Thamizh were converted into Jainism and Buddhism then those THamizh saved Thamizh. So religion isn't something that brings unity to a community such as Thamizh whom are of different religions and evidently Jainism and Buddhism came from North India and it wasn't a Thamizh related thing or 'Dravida' related thing as you call it and the fact is Jainism and Buddhism were brought alive by Aryans who were against the act of Brahmins who actually killed alot of Thamizh ancestry and who sacrificed animals and including Humans in their rituals which was consider to be part of the so called 'religious act' of Vaithikam or as defined as the Brahminism.

  Why I should refer you to the Thamizh Tribune website but nm as I think referring them rather than answering might sound ignoring. For your information Thamizhans aren't taught about the Thamizh Kavalars much in Thamizh Medium in TN specially due to the fact (H)Indian government control the education board and it ignores Southerners specially Thamizhans who even fought against British regime! I'm not sure how I should answer this where this same question should be asked to the TN government and the (H)Indian government made of Hindis and for Hindis!
