Its seems to be that the fireworks industry is dying in the recent years. The owners of the fireworks industry are not investing into the business for the past 5 years and its in the phase of dying. They also diverting their business into the following
1. COlor Offset printing
2. Educational Institutions etc...

Who said that there are childlabours in the fireworks industry. Its a media attact over a particular community to stop their growth in the region.
Just think for a moment.
All the websites are holding the same information, that 45,000 children are working in the industry. Do anyone show from where this figure came from. All of them based on the
UNICEF, UNESCO, Churches of Sivakasi and other "Thondu Organisations"...
They want an issue to raise money, They are the one to whom to be blamed. They are making a good money out of it. The money they raised went into the pockets of "GANAVANGAL" not the needy people.
But one thing is sure, The community who raised the fireworks industry are fed up and they are diverting the funds towards other industries like
1. COlor offset printers
2. Educational Instituitons
3. Hotels and
4 other service oriented industry.
They will survive and be prosperous. But if they left this industry, Is there anybody to improve the industry.
DID ANYONE THINK ABOUT THE FOLLOWING
"IF OUR FIREWORKS INDUSTRY DIED, YOU HAVE TO IMPORT FIREWORKS AND OUR CHILDREN WON'T HAVE THE JOY OF BURING FIREWORKS FOR EVER, SINCE OUR INDIAN PARENTS CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY THOSE IMPORTED FIREWORKS"
Also now the fireworks are coming with the "NCLE" Label means "NO CHILD LABOUR EMPLOYED". If you really want to support to eradicate child labour, first buy fireworks with those labels only rather than stop buying them.

Hello,
I am a business journalist with www.domainb.com, India's first online business magazine. I am planning to do a detailed report about the fireworks industry. I would like to have information about:
1)Total industry size (Turnover at factory level and retail level)
2)Number of Units - licensed and unlicensed
3)Latest industry trend - is there consolidation amongst the units- bigger units buying out smaller ones.
4)Is there any import threat?
5)What prevents exports of fireworks?
6)Other impeding factors that stall the industry's growth.
7)Price trends of the major raw materials
8)Design of new crackers-how it is done-the process-germination of an idea, the working towards that idea, testing and final product?
9)How the idea raker/designor is rewarded?
10)R&D spend of the industry/units as a % of their turnover?
11) Name and turnover of the major units in Sivakasi?
12) Is there any other place that is condusive for manufacture of crackers in India?
13)Any other information you would like to add.
