Though they are quarreling with each other today, proper Tamil castes and caste leaders will group together the moment a common hate object is defined. See how Ramadas, Thirumavalavan, Sethuraman, etc., came for a meeting organised by P.Nedumaran and vented out their feelings against Tamil Cinema as well as displayed an inner desire to be leaders for all tamils, instead of just being a caste leader for Vanniars, Parayars and Thevars. The pan tamil politicians are also aware that the only way to unite these castes is to present a common hate object. My prayer is that Telegus should not become that. As such, Telengana telegus voted to go separately from the rest recently. People who write without thinking in these forums should keep all these in mind. One can be a Tamil but still be proud of his Telegu ancestry.

I mean to say that the Telugus living in Tamil Nadu should learn how to read and write Telugu. They should give telugu names to their children.

The main identity that castes like Reddiars, Naidus and Telegu Chettiars belonging to Tamil Nadu have is that they belong to Tamilnadu. Other tamil castes also see them that way. The day other tamil castes see them as alien, they will get treated the way bengalis get treated in Assam nd the next generation will lose whatever roots they have in Tamilnadu atleast.

Why the kettle is calling the pot black? You can advise Tamilnadu Telegus how to improve their Telegu identity and you are not a chavunist. But Tamils who accommodate everyone and assimilate everyone are a Chauvunist, is it? You guys have to stop having double standards. Why are you bringing up this topic now?

Right from the days of history there had been a very good realtionship between Tamilnadu and AndhraPradesh.
The Great Vengi Saamraajyam, was in very good terms with Cholas and had marital relationships.
The Great King, Kulothunga Chola, was called Chalukya Cholan, for his paternity was with Vengi (RajaRaja Narendran and AmangaiDevi). And thus Telugu and Tamil continued to live together peacefully.
Even during 14th Century when Allaudin-Khilji, was progressing towards south. Many Telugu people came here and settled in many parts of TamilNadu. The then Pandyan King gave them refuge and they settled in South of Tamil Nadu in Kanyakumari adn Tirunelveli districts.
By the way, a GettiBommu, a Naidu from Veerapandya puram in Tirunelveli, became Veerapandya Kattabomman (Veerapandyapura Gettibommu), by this way.

There are fishing communities along the coast of Thiruvananthapuram who are known by many names. One of them 'wadukanmar'. Their language is a dialect which is a mixture of tamil and Telugu.
