'Ranil - the Pragmatist' has agreed for an interim LTTE Admin in Eezham!

At long last, Ranil has proved that he has the heart and brains to do what it takes to acheive peace in the fractured island of srilanka. Notwithstanding the political brinkmanship of 'one-eyed' chandrika and the tantrums that some of the srilankan army generals were throwing at him, he has agreed in principle for setting up an interim administration in the north-eastern eezham region. International opinion should be taken care of by norway and japan, it is hoped, to buld the groundswell of moral support that eezham's new administration needs.
It should be noted that in half-a-century none have shown the daring leadership that G.L Peiris and Ranil Wickramasinghe have shown, in SL. It is sincerely hoped that this time around, given the new world concerns about stability of regimes and peace, chandrika is not allowed to destroy the new found trust and co-operation between Eezham thamizh people and the rulers of Srilanka.

“I can understand the wounds and the pain underlying that statement. Both Ranil and the LTTE know that the best chance for peace rests with them, for even one bad move could tilt the game in favor of foxy chandrika and her political and militant machinations.”
Well well well, we have Dog $hit Cat $hit, and Bull $hit. Are you saying only Bull $hit is stinky?
Every action LTTE does adds fuel to ethnic harmony in SL. In fact, LTTE is the liability in this peace process. The party who emerged in blood of Sinhalese, Tamils, and Muslims can never bear the peace banner. Ranil has at least cleaned up his act and trying to act like a saint here.
The only we can have peace is if Tamils and Sinhalese agree to form a partnership with a common goal of a united Sri Lanka. Anyone with blood and violence associated with their past can’t create a peaceful Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan needs a fresh start with fresh credible leaders.

lankapeace, the bottom line is that tamils in the north & east want to rule their land by themselves without interference from sinhala. This what the tamils want. If you can provide this without dividing the country, then you can have peace in Sri Lanka. Are you willing to give up power in the north & east. No point in talking of common goal when you do not agree for this. Tamils in the north and east are not interested in living together, but they want to rule themselves. I am an outsider who can give an assessment of the situation. AJ somewhat is giving a good picture of the reality.

Who gave you the permission to speak on behalf of Tamils in NE?
You say so since LTTE put words in your mouth. I think Tamils should be given the Northen part of the country and the Muslims the East. Sinhalese can control the rest. Why don't you against giving Muslims any control?
If you start dividing countries just because some people have Guns and they have created a fake agenda, there will be many countries in this world.

I have no connection with LTTE and they need not to put a gun on my mouth. This something claimed by the majority of the sinhalese. If somebody speaks in favour of LTTE, immediately you come to a conclusion that LTTE is putting a gun. How many writers in tis forum are writing against LTTE? Does that mean LTTE is putting a gun against them. Lets talk the truth. For the 50 years, the Sri Lankan governments( sinhalese controlled) have cheated the tamils in the north and east, they colonised the land of the tamils. Tamils mean it includes tamil speaking muslims as well. Division was created between tamils and muslims from the time of lalith Athulathmudali. LTTE does not want their people to get cheated again. They stood up against your communal atrocities. I agree to the truth LTTE was involved in violent activities. Ask Why? It is because your army( 95% sinhalese) commited atrocities against the tamils. What about the riots in 56, 80, 83. The sinhalese are paying the price today for the violent crimes perpetuated by them against tamils. Tamils are today paying the price for the violent crimes perpuated by the LTTE as they find very few or no international support. This is the truth. Do you agree ot not agree. What the sinhalese want is living together . again I am saying what the tamils of the north and east want is to rule themselves. If
truth and justice exists then there will be peace. No point in having common goal unless the majority of sinhalese are willing to give the tamil their due right to rule their land , then peace will never dawn in Sri Lanka. Sinhalese are to gain much by making this good gesture

“ Lets talk the truth. For the 50 years, the Sri Lankan governments( sinhalese controlled) have cheated the tamils in the north and east”
Not true, government cheated Tamils and Sinhalese as well.
“They colonised the land of the tamils.”
Not true again. What I know is that when they colonized government land, every ethnic group was given their fair share. When LTTE started their colonization, they have wiped out Sinhalese and Muslims from NE. However many Tamils have colonized in Colombo and has no problems.
“ Tamils mean it includes tamil speaking muslims as well. Division was created between tamils and muslims from the time of lalith Athulathmudali.”
Division exists between every ethnic group, it is a human nature. Today high caste Tamil treats low Caste Tamils like $hit, however they claim they get better treatment from Sinhalese.
“ LTTE does not want their people to get cheated again. “
The LTTE injustice of Tamils are greater than of 50 years of SLG.
“They stood up against your communal atrocities.”
They created it, created anger within Sinhalese and attracted violence against Tamils just to score media points abroad. Don’t forget number of Sinhalese stood up for Tamils whenever they being attacked by angered Sinhalese.
“ It is because your army( 95% sinhalese) commited atrocities against the tamils. “
Army did a stupid thing by reacting when they were attacked by LTTE Terrorists during the early stages of the war. Since then government has many times panelized anyone involved in violence against Tamil civilians. Today it is not Army who do violence against Tamils, it is the LTTE itself. Since last Feb, LTTE has killed over 30 Tamils.
“What about the riots in 56, 80, 83. The sinhalese are paying the price today for the violent crimes perpetuated by them against tamils. Tamils are today paying the price for the violent crimes perpuated by the LTTE as they find very few or no international support. This is the truth. Do you agree ot not agree. “
Don’t know about violence in 56 or 80. Sinhalese thugs have killed number of Tamils in 83 (vaguely remember, happened when I was growing up). I’ve heard stories that many Sinhalese braved and fought against the mob to save Tamils. Also know this happened when LTTE killed Sinhalese and Army and mob attacked Tamils to retaliate (just like any other violence this did not happen in a vacuum and it took two hands to clap). LTTE have outdone this incident by killing scores of Sinhalese by axing them at night times and ethnic cleansing Sinhalese from some Towns in NE.
“What the sinhalese want is living together . again I am saying what the tamils of the north and east want is to rule themselves.”
Don’t have a problem if they want to achieve this by not destroying Sri Lanka and Tamil culture.
“ Sinhalese are to gain much by making this good gesture “
I don’t agree, everyone one will gain. It is time to stop the violence and achieve whatever they want through negotiations. Remember, when people become too ambitions, things won’t work out. You have to give some when you want to get some. If you are not prepared to give up some, problems won’t be resolved.

neo, I am always ready for logical discussion with anyone who does not support a gun culture.
I thought you will like this:
More stories like Nalani can be found on: http://www.spur.asn.au/childwar.htm
BATTICALOA, Sri Lanka (Reuters-21.07.2003) - Nalini has five children, but
when she wakes up
in the morning she remembers that only three are safe in their beds.
The other two are training to be soldiers. Her son, now 17, was abducted by
Sri Lanka's Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam four years ago. They came back
for her 13-year-old daughter a few months ago, despite a February 2002
ceasefire to end 20 years of war and statements by the rebels saying they
are against child recruitment.
Nalini says although she is fearful of harassment from the rebel group
famous for its suicide bomb attacks, she wants to tell her story, but she
asks that her real name is not used and her east coast village not
identified.
"There has just been so much injustice done to me. What more do I have to
lose?" the slightly built woman asks, suddenly looking fierce.
With its poverty, ethnically mixed population and fluid lines of control
between the government and rebels, the east coast is known for its
volatility and stories of child abductions by the rebels are common.
Some of the children are taken from their homes, but more recently,
villagers say the rebels are picking up their targets in the street or on
their way home from school.
"That way they can say, 'we don't know where your children are' or they tell
us they came on their own," Nalini explained.
Father Harry Miller, a Jesuit priest and community leader who has lived in
the eastern town of Batticaloa for more than 50 years, said rebels still
demanded families give them one child for training, despite denying long ago
they had such a policy.
Aid agencies have estimated children comprised more than 20 percent of the
rebels' fighting force in their struggle for a separate state for minority
Tamils in the north and east.
"Some have been able to buy their way out," said Miller. "For those who
don't give kids, they exact heavier taxes."
The Tigers have admitted to having underage recruits in their ranks in the
past, but say the practice has stopped. They blame any continuing abductions
on a lack of discipline among their cadres.
CASES FALLING?
UNICEF says the number of reported cases is "drastically reducing" but
concedes people are nervous about making complaints after the rebels
suspended peace talks in April and with a number of political killings and
grenade attacks in the region.
"We do recognise that at the moment the security situation in Batticaloa is
quite tense. So maybe parents are not coming forward as strongly as they
were before," said UNICEF protection officer Chris Watkins.
Nonetheless, the agency is pushing ahead with a plan they agreed with the
rebels and government to rehabilitate child soldiers, which includes transit
centres to house released children while their families are traced.
"It gives people more courage to come forward. People are heartened that we
do have an action plan for working with the LTTE," said Watkins.
But no one knows how many children are in the camps, and if the Tigers are
sincere in their willingness to release them.
UNICEF had 20 reported cases in June and about 1,000 since the
Norwegian-brokered truce. But one Batticaloa resident who works with mothers
of abducted children said she suspects the number in the east alone could
run into the thousands.
"Practically every single family has given a child in the villages," she
said.
Father Miller agrees the ceasefire has had little impact on recruitment in
the east, and says the Tigers' harassment makes it hard for people to
believe they are sincere in the bid to end a war that has killed more than
64,000 people.
"Now suddenly, they have access to the cleared areas, and so they're getting
at the children who they did not have access to before," he said, referring
to government-held areas.
LITTLE FAITH
For many village families, whose livelihood is based on cultivating small
plots of rice and fishing, taking a child means taking part of an already
meagre income.
Aruna's son was the primary earner in the family before he was taken more
than a year ago. He managed to escape, but the Tigers picked him up again
last month.
"He was making about 250 rupees ($2.58) a day as a labourer. My husband is
disabled so he hasn't been working," said Aruna, who also did not want her
real name used.
She says that for people like her, who are unable to pay the Tigers' regular
taxes, they are forced to support the cause by giving a child. She has
little faith the Tigers will ever give up children voluntarily.
"I don't know, but it doesn't seem that UNICEF can force them," she said.
Nalini made a direct appeal to the rebels after her daughter was taken, and
made complaints to UNICEF and Nordic monitors overseeing the truce.
The Tigers told her they would release her daughter if she withdrew her
complaints -- a promise she did not believe -- and sent her on a wild goose
chase to several camps before telling her they had sent the girl for
training.
"They just told me, 'our parents also shouted like this for us', and sent me
away," she said. "I don't know if there will be a settlement. If a war
starts, our sons and daughters are there and will be dying."

Assuringly LP is being negative about something of nothing! Let me tell you something LP if you are reading this.
'Not all Thamizhans are good and not all Singhalese are bad'
I grew up in Thamizh Eezham for like 12 years and when i came under the Singhalaes Influence i have experinced things and don't make me wrong because i have lived in a refugee camp for like 4 years and did manage to continue my education.
Let me be clear with some things here see when I was in the refugee camp me and my family was transferred to another camp where I've met a sergeant who was kind to all of us. Sometime when things go worse they go to camps and have a guy with a mask and ask if anyone is suspectable but this Sergeant never let that happen indicatively he would say How can you not trust these people they live here and when they go out they sign and get a pass and they are under my control and as far as I know no illegal actions or Illegal intruding have happened and I'm the head of this camp so mind it' that's what i heard and I managed to speak with this person some time and he asked me once why are we fighting I mean Singhalese and Thamizh? This is the question that is raised in all of the Singhalese most of the Time so in between Thamizh people. Next when we got the visa to Canada there was no train services so we had to get on a bus to Colombo. My Uncle was and now a Police Sergeant so he talked with the bus driver and he also stood for us to get a pass to Colombo and if it wasn't him We wouldn't have made it to Canada at the right Time. So we took the bus where we met this man from the Singhalese Army he was in Holiday so he came and sat near to our seats, at first I was scared then I came to my sense and understood he was nice and so I and him managed to talk to him with my little English I knew and unfortunality I don't have the phone number of him now anyway so he was nice to us and believe it or not the bus which goes from Vavuniya to Colombo gets through all kind of check points it'll make you tired as heck carrying those bags and going through those Army Check points so he helped us not to carry one of the big bag and he also helped us with things on the way. These things proved me personally that not every Singhalese are worse.
Now see when you look at the Thamizh Rebels (LTT) you come with some other conclusions of worse but you trust it or not. We have a saying which says, " If it wasn't the Tigers even rat would have ate Thamizhars." Yet it is true because what you saw and see is covering up. Maybe half of the Singhalese are nice but I don't think you can expect the other half to be like that or the Sri Lankan Government. They did lot of manipulating and stealing every Thamizh rights and some of the Leaders played Political well that they took out Thamizhars from being on the second on power of the Country by decerasing the Thamizh MP's. The fact about LTT drove out the Singhalese and Muslims out of their lands because they betrayed us I mean Thamizh speaking Muslims they gave info to Singhala army about Tigers and they even treated Thamizh worse when they had their own Police which was emerged by the government of Sri Lanka to make Thamizhars and Thamizh speaking and Islam by religion to conflict. It was a political game that was played well. Not only that but Thamizh speaking Islamic community stuck by the side of the Government which was in the hand of Singhala Fanatic of Anti-Thamizh. Thus they didn't participate in any anti attacks or never joined LTT for the fact they always saw the division in between it was and other conflicts that happened made them go apart from Thamizhars. So it's not LTT fault nor can be the fault of the Thamizh speaking Islamic community at most of the point but Indicatively the fault of the Government of Sri Lanka and which is now planning on having a separate Police for Muslims when you have the top Police Officers as Muslims in lot of Muslim area and that you have police officers who can be put in the duty to guard Thamizh speaking Islamic Community if necessary but they want to see a separatism to rise. This is the work of Chandrika and some other Anti-Thamizhars.
Considerably at some point you said Thamizhars are being unharmed. I can't agree with that because nowdays they are checking the passes and other Identifications of Thamizhars in Singhala Government Ruled Areas and even now where you have a peace talk on process. Well Singhala people did help at some occassion when the thugs attacked on Thamizhars but it's not an excuse you see. The government didn't consider Thamizhar as the part of the country so what's your point mister? Saying The government will attack whenever they want and so will the thugs who work for the Anti-Thamizh Organizations and that Thamizhars are suppose to feel the pain and go through all of this process and just be totally slave and await for the time when their Singhalese Friends who can help them or being afraid when they might turn against them too? Or how about the fact when you removed the rights for Thamizhars on the flags when we took it with non-violent act and you managed to give a piece on the flag reprsented by a color and being a racist. Your Government. Tell me this my friend has your government and people still agreed to accept Thamizhars as part of them? Tell me more my friend when your government seek for a separate Police for the Ethnic community of Thamizh speaking Muslim to make a division amongs Thamizhars why not gives us our land to rule by ourselves? So you think having our power isn't agreeable because Singhalese should be on top and Thamizhars should be on the bottom? Have you no understanding of the historical evidences and the fact of Thamizh community? The Singhalese government accepted Thamizh people inside their lands because so it could show the foreigners and the U.N saying oh we are taking care of the Thamizh people and that we aren't being racist on this Ethnic group and to get money out of all organizations around the world saying oh our poor friends need help with their daily basis of life and for their educations and for a security reasons and the government wind up the whole money to the war and buy massive weapons and what you do you go against the poor friends of yours who suffer poverty in the froest and feel insecure and suffer disesases inside your governmented lands! What you need more than what I have said that we need a separate country. We aren't begging you, may you notice that my friend we have our rights and we should have got it long ago. If Sri Lanka is part of U.N then read my words friend. The U.N rule say if a group of Ethnic people want a separate nation to themselves for their own good then they should be able to get it and that U.N and other countries should help. However U.N doesn't resemble the Globe it resembele some powerful governments and the leadership of America the U.S.A! What is happening in Iraq? Saddam is killing his own people and being a dictator? Oh my god America doesn't know where Sri Lanka is? Is it on Jupiter?! Or perhaps on pluto where humans from this planet haven't landed on:( tsk tsk poor Thamizh fellows aww sorry they don't have oil wells or any other economical facilities:( aww they we can't see them clearly ooh maybe they are wild animals that's why they named their organizations as part of Tigers ooooh we must save the poor Singhales humans and the humanic Government they have! Laugh it up people because that's what the America think in what you can see because if it wanted good for the world and not for the selfishness act then it would have solved it so could have India or any other countries or this organization called U.N and I salute to whoever bombed the U.N oh maybe think I'm a Terroist and I don't care about innocent lifes but sire and madam U.N is a shield that America Uses:D and so does some tail countries of America -The Alliance:D--- too bad they can't see Thamizh ppl and their losses although Microsoft company have almost half of the Thamizhars working in their company! They are from Thamizh Nadu but i suppose America can be pointed out it's being selfish and not to forget our Indian Friend who already helped the invasion on Thamizhars and still some Thamizh speaking lands are under the hand of other province. Poor India has poor heart or I'd say poor vision perhaps! so zip it up fellow friend don't talk politics or LTT fault or Thamizhan Fault cause you make no sense it's all nonsense:D salute you friend of you being the arrogance of the Sri Lankan Government nonsense if you get what I mean. So take care people and don't get manipulated by some pitiful and pathetic meaningless and Singhala sided writing our LP friend has resembled and showed the poor side of the Singhala Government.
We respect every nations and people but we expeect the same respect in return as part of being humans and we need our own country to rule ourselves and to feel save and to speak our mother tongue at all time and to advance with the world. We don't want to be part of a country who treat us with no rights who is awaiting like we are their prey or who think us as the lowest living things maybe not all things but the most percentage does importantly the government. So be it friend but being one is for all of us as the World but Independantly we are of our community and Thamizhars and Thamizh speaking Islamic community is same but not of another language speaking community because a language is the root to a certain community so is it culture but that doesn't mean we are better than you we are all same but our language and culture and our own power is important for us to live in our own land so thank you for your time.
