Till Kamban composed the graet epic, Tamil literature had only poems on Nature and War, moral treatises like Tirukkural, stories told in a prose poem format (like Silappadhigaram) and pure devotional poems like Thevaram and Divya Prabhandam.

Kamban for the first time combined society, nature, ethics, spirituality, philosophy and devotion against the backdrop of a popular story and created exquisite poems. Remember the saying: Kalviyil periyavar Kambar; not Kavidhaiyil. His scholarship and wide perspective is evident in every chapter. I invite people who have experienced Kamban in some dimension to reflect on what I say and share their views.

  Why KAMBAN was honourably named as KAVI- CHAKRAVARTHI? ...
  
  ... rather than just a Composer of a Religious- treatise or an Epic, Ramayana?...
  
  ... which title for Kamban was unanimously accepted by one and all the Great Tamil-Poets of those days!!!
  
  If any common man with a basic knowledge on Classical-Tamil Language coupled with a keen sense of intellectual perception deeply ponder on this GREAT EPIC of India by Kamban, will admire and accept the HIGHLY UNPARALLEL BEAUTY of Tamil Language primarily, apart from its Story- content and Moral- Values.
  
  So to say one who wants to enjoy the taste of this Great Classical Language Tamil, can abundantly find its delicious RICHNESS here in Kamban.
  
  While there are several Ramayanas in different Languages of India, this Rama- Kaappiyam is HIGHLY UNIQUE in every sense.
  
  Kamban has taken enormous efforts and succeeded effectively to carve each character to its utmost perfection. To achieve this high Moral-sense of understanding by the Readers, he has even deviated conspicuously from the Original- epic the Valmiki Ramayana in Sanskrit, in which we find some INCONSISTENCIES and SELF- CONTRADICTIONS especially in CHARACTERISATION.
  
  For example... why Rama killed the Deer... while His purpose and Scope was ONLY TO CAPTURE IT ALIVE to fulfil the desire of His lovely wife Seetha- devi?
  
  On this Point, Valmiki vastly differs with Kamban and Valmiki's narrations through Seetha's mouth, is UTTERLY DENIGRATING THE GREAT SEETHA-DEVI, the Unparallel Pathni, depicting the high WOMANHOOD of Indian Culture. Whereas Kamban has corrected this LACUNAE in Valmiki, by depicting the the GLORIOUS HEROINE as the Symbolic Great Lady of Tamilian- culture innate with Acham, Naanham, Madam, Payirpu i.e.,the Typical Womanhood enriched with UNSHAKEABLE FIRM PRINCIPLES on Life even under duress.
  
  Under the Forum Kamba- Ramayanam, on this point I had an unending dispute with my lovely friend Mr. HARI KRISHNAN .. which is YET TO FIND THE OTHER END OF THE TUNNEL.
  
  I invite the participants to put forth their views on this point of Unique Characterisation of SEETHA- devi by Kamban .... without any INCONSISTENCY.... YES, I MEAN... BY KAMBAN.
