I came across a word called 'veLrOyan' in a short story collection. Supposed to be connected to petrol or motor boat equipments.

Could you please tell me what it means??

I also found the words 'rayar', 'reep' (or reeb) which I guessed as 'tyre' and 'tube' respectively. Is my guess correct??

  Ilangai tamiz tends to use the vallina Ra for the english 't', since the two are phonetically similar - both are supposed to be pronounced using the tip of the tongue.

  no, ilangaith thamizh uses idaiyinalra (not Ra) for english 't'.
  
  When idaiyina "ra" (in the uyilmey form) is alone, at the front of the word or after a meyezhuththu, it's pronouced as and english "t". Otherwise it's a pronouced as ra in english.
  
  The vallina Ra is pronouced as Ru as in Run etc, except in the mey form ("R) it's pronouced as an english 't'.
