  The serial that I wrote appeared in the 'Mayil' literary magazine in 1992.
  
  It was on the occassion of the 50th memorial of UVS.
  
  I started it on His birthday - 10-02-1992 and I wrote it for 10 weeks.
  
  It was a very tough job, because I hadto take the pains to make it simple because I was writing it for the average Malaysian Tamilreader. I hade to explain quite a number of things wherever I thought necessay.
  
  I had to do it with the help of my own personal library. There is no other resource centre for a thousand two hundred miles around.
  
  The 10th segment coincided with the death anniversary of UVS.
  
  I sent copies to Kanchi, ThirupanandhAL KAsi Matam, KalaimagaL and UVS library.
  
  The grandson Subramaniya Aiyer wrote a laudatory letter of appreciation.
  
  So did the others.
  
  At that time, there was a proposal to have it as a text book in the Tamil Schools.
  
  But it was later allowed to fade away - just as anything worthwhile is done in beautiful Malaysia.
  
  I forgot about it until a few weeks, when I accidentally found the bundle of the 10 issues of 'Mayil' carrying the biography.
  
  I thought that I should continue with the homage and tribute that I always pay to the Great Man.
  
  So I scanned the pages in small segments, created small files and put them up in pages and chapters.
  
  It was in the form of an E-Book.
  
  Strange that you people would not mention anything about that...but should cite another work by another person here.
  
  I am not surprised.
  
  Just pointing out the vicariousness of the situation.

  His writings show a definite attachment for Tamil. And his life's mission has been for the cause of Tamil.
  
  He has not minced any words when he often quotes from 'Thamilz vidu thUdhu'.
  
  'irunthamilzE unnAl irundhEn
  virundhu amilzdhu enRAlum uNNEn'
  
  He has used Sanskrit words in his style of writing. But taking into consideration, the time period that he was living in, and the socio-cultural environment, the number of Sanskrit words that he used were minimal.
  
  He staunchly loved Tamil and lived for it.
  But he did not hate Sanskrit and did not show the awe, bias, and preference that others showed towards Sanskrit in those days.

  The reason for posting it was to indicate that interest in UVeSa STILL existed beyond this thread (clearly, anyone who visits the thread is aware of the E-book you have written - after all why else would we be posting to this thread?) Since you have written about the access difficulties/network problems I have not been able to read the articles. I'm assuming most posters are in the same boat.
  
  I meant the book and link to act as a filler while waiting for the E-book site to come live. Pl don't take this to have suggested in any way that a book which 99% of posters don't have access to is better than your E-book that everyone will shortly be able to read.
  
  Finally, you don't need me to tell you "muyaRchi thiruvinaiyaakkum." No amount of congratulations or praise that I/all of the posters on this thread or indeed anyone else can give you will equal the effort you have taken to collect the information about UVeSaa, collate it, write the articles, scan them in, and post them to a website that millions can access anywhere, anytime in the world.

  Are you able to compress all the gif images and html pages into a single zip file ? If yes, what is the filesize in that case ? I feel downloading one such zip file is much more easier than waiting for yahoo to correct their bandwidth issues, You may host the zip file in yahoo groups / forumhub if the admin are interested,
  
  The fact is, I want to read the book, But couldn't because of these network issues, In India Internet is very costly and Slow .... :-( Thus any solution like the above one will be great ....

  I don't have an acrobat. I cannot convert into gif files.
  
  So we are trying several other methods of minimising the file sizes.
  
  I hope that we will be able to do it by this week.
  
  Its the man-power and expertise that is difficult to get in Malaysia.

  There is a very good comprehensive biography of UVS.
  This has been written by Ki.Vaa.Jagannaathan. It is published by the Sahithya Academy. Year of publication - 1982.
  
  It comes under the series - 'Indhiya ilakkiya chiRpikaL'.
  
  The book contains 78 pages. The whole narrative is divided into 65 titles.
  
  At the end of the book, there is an appendix about his important published works.

  This book is different from 'en aasiriyappiraan'. this is a different work. The latter is a biographical continuation of the autobiography - UVS's 'en chariththiram'.
