Tamil.net is trying out a biz plan co-operative networking which I think is needed some time or other . It is only a Q of when. Pls contact (details given below) if interested. You may discuss the topic here. If it creates any stir I can direct org to post answers/faqs and such.
What is new in Tamil.net?
A network of Erumbugal has evolved, a core group with a goal to fuel a Social-Economic reniasance in Tamildom. So What is new about Erumbugal?

Once upon a time they talked of many things like all surfers; about films, haiku, politics, race, religion, environment,poetry,post modernism & arch medivevalism. We are fed up of empty rhetorics and condition of Tamildom.
But for one difference.
Your interest can be anything under the sun. We help you keep your interest alive and might even nudge you to enrich the group with your singular/eccentric insights.
But essentially Erumbugal are interested in the essense of the
whole thing, that is in you as an Individual.
Because Erumbugal is a Meta organism. It can digest a couple of post modernists for breakfast and still
have room for a few Maoists. Dissatisfied, the Erumbugal are creating a
public mindspace for action.
They are fed up of talking of other people's
films, of Bill Gate's Billions, killions. Gaping skywards at Empire state Building. Naturally it strains our neck too.
Needless to state that this applies for any other wonderful thing as well.

The simple question is What is in it for us?"

Why are we fed up? The Cyber culture has established itself as a powerful communicating and networking mechanism. With the right minds behind the network Cyber Group is a self learning, course correcting social organism with a life of its own. Modelled Properly Cyber has been effective catalyst for directed and
purposeful use in business and Societal changes.


The management gurus of Erumbugal believes in a self learning group with various expertise wired together to create a new ethos for Tamildom. The kind of networking calls for a change from "middle class" "mediocraciy" mindset to an entrepruenership. Taking
risks!

  Disclaimer: I am actively involved in this along with Kumarabharathy, Bala and other erumbugal.
  
  What we are witnessing here is a paradigm shift. We have been using the wonderful tool Internet for improving our traditional life style. We have succeeded in some areas - news, discussions and email.
  
  Putting this technology to improve our life materially has not happened so far. The dotcom boom and bust is one abortive attempt.
  
  The point is we have an unprecedented opportunity to connect people and creat self contained/outward looking communities. People can trade and exchange their services, can pool their talents together to market it to other entities so on.
  
  I reckon that 10 years from now these kind of activities will take up a significant part of our life, meaning we will spend say one third of our time in the online community (productively) and get one third of our needs fulfilled online.
  
  As an offshoot a community formed with Tamil as the bonding line will provide a framework for the development of tamil literature, computing resources etc.
  
  Just imagine if we tax 1% of the transactions through a tamil community for tamil development Project Madurais
  (note plural) will get enormous thrust.
  
  Give your imagination a go. Sofar, every new person looking at this concept has come out with new insight.

  Thanks Sat for your good response. I may say that this is an idea that was discussed in Tamil.net for some time. We have only a few people with biz head and a vision and who can think outside of the circle but most of us are sure that prsent trends do not work. Literary efforts social thinking technology and trade has to be net worked together in a self learning mode. Getting this to work is the biggest problem. There have been two areas that come for immediate attn. 1. Use a system of Tamil$ for exchange of service among members. This is to get the "network" going. (2) To forge alliance with portals such as e-work and many others to get outside "hard cash" work. What this means is that orderly structure and reliability. In portals such loyality being absent, one which is glued (bond) by "Tamil" or whatever will have leading edge. There is only start. Once numbers todd up and house keeping on a meta portal like Saatchi & Saatch + Ernest & Young - a poormans EY & SS you may say is abs necessity. Modalities of coop cannot be done by only words. Its a kind of culture that evolves with trust. Now I dont want to speculate on sucess & failures, difficult/hard. They are not good words here. Appropriate is the word. If this concept does not pass this time somebodyelse has to take the baton. That is all scan be said.
  
  Out of the names in the list I recognise Dr JB & Ramnitharan are members. Mani of course I recognise as the brain behind so many things. His contact was thru Unmai. All the output by all interested becomes internal noise unless we have a influential group & Portal. Then we can deny falsehoods. This is the day pettai rowdys are wired, So are media mafia. They can ignore us as we are strucured. Now portal is also to spur diff kind of trading. I think the idea is sound. People are OK - like people. It is forging relationships & trust that is required. I am not in web for a long time This is basic outline. Pls visit and see.

These includes Balapillai (CEO Asia Pacific Internet company -APIC) Sydney, who is the sponsor along with M A Sivakuar (Leather Technologist & entrepruenuer) from Shanghai, Stayamoorthy (Teleindia Ltd) Chennai, Ms Nirmala Raju (Chem Egr) from London, VB Madhavan (IT) USA. Anbu (KL).There is a mix of expertise and experience. But some of the names may not be associated with anything formidable in biz world but again some are with proven track record in business. Trust and spirit of co-operation can only be generated as this thing is worked through. The risk is low - only your time. That is your investment. The group is confident of its concept's workability. But we can't give guarantees at this stage as we ourselves do not have such gurantees. It is an arrow into the unknown and sharing risks associated with a creative venture. Anything creative has potential to fail or succeed, also has potential for innovation and course correction.
  
  There are many indicators I see in the web, which points to various needs that can never be really fulfilled by the existing structure. For instance Jeyamohan was elaborating on the difficulties in getting subscription for small magazines. So an art marketing is an issue. There are people from west who wants to get a crash course in Sidha medicine/oil massage techniques. There is eco tourism/educational potential. So a global village fair model is indicated. The existing big sites mirror paper/TV media and lot of things that matter to society will leak thru these sieves. With 10,000 wired people acting in some loose chaos/order mode a chance of creating an alternative ethos in biz becomes possible. 'Tamil glue' if it has any substantial existence to bind must transcend the perenial talk about Tamil and must be proven to exist.
  
  
  If not anything this erumbugal movement is bringing to focus a case of educated people's mind mobility.
