Very good venkat. I agree with you regarding the
space fillers in kuRaL. Verbosity has no place in
science or in kuRaL.
Let us go from Newton to Quantum Mechanics at the speed of light.

kudos for taking up the responsibility to start a thread and initiate the discussions. before continuing:
first, a question. looks like it's going to be physics galore here. is it so?
second, a suggestion: can we first get some definitions cleared off the way? (oops! a question again :-) ).
i would like you all to first come up with definitions for (1) point, (2) particle, (3) position, (4) displacement, (5) velocity, (6) speed, (7) acceleration, (7) ratio, (8) rate, (9) change... (basically let's get kinematics out of our ways :-) ).

in your translation of newton's first law, "celvana cenRidum" doesnot exactly imply "uniform motion in a straight line" (the velocity is unaltered). your second and third laws are good. the second one is expecially cute. also what does "kaRRidu mARRAth thadai" means?

kANbAy poruLidam alladhu vEkam: this line has no thaLai thattal so far. the word kANAy after vEgam ... there is a problem here. vEgam ends in a single syllabic ending namely gam. therefore the next sIr should start with a niRai therefore kANAy doesn't fit. if you want to retain kANAy then vEgam should go and something else. also the "iraNdum orupOdhu" should go like "iraNdumoru pOdhu". hope this helps.

If you are getting a hang on the thaLai concepts, I would like you to have a look into last two veNpaa mEdai of aaraamthiNai. Vanchi has written them so neatly and easy to understand. Also, you can have a look into yappuvalai tutorrial at http://members.xoom.com/yappu
If you use murasu for typing, use inaimathitsc fonts, this will enable everyone (even those who do not use murasu) to read them easily, with anyother tsc font.
