The word 'kazhal' means an aNikalan worn in the legs; and it became an aagupeyar, referring to the leg itself. When we talk about kings or God, we mention the legs as 'kazhal', whether that particular deity wears a kazhal or not. I have used it to refer to the lotus feet of a saint. My friend has questioned that it can not be used to refer so. My Thamizh teachers did approve the usage. I wish to know whether it can be used to refer to the lotus feet of a saint, from other pulavargaL on the net.

Nagarajan: I think you can certainly use 'kazhal' to refer to the feet. In fact I am not sure whether the word 'kazhal' was originally a term for feet or the ornament and was used for the other.

I finally found out the answer. Thanx to the internet. Sri VEdhAntha DhEsikar used it to refer to the lotus feet of Sri NAthamuni adigaL.
