tha national awards 2002 will be announced today.it seems prakash raj will win a special jury award and mani's "kannathil mutthmittal" is likely to get 5 awards. aparna sen might also get a special jury award.

  Come on Raghu! If Shankar Mahadevan can win a National Award why cant Udith? Please dont estimate Udith's talents based on the songs he sings in Thamizh. He sings well in Hindi.
  
  If I remember correct he has already won a National Award in 1998 for the song Thum paas aayE ( a lovely song indeed), in kooch kooch hothahai..

  I accept your views of anbe sivam over KM. AS scores over KM in the story and acting category. KM scores over AS in sticking to the theme category. there are few diversions in anbe sivam.In music and songs KM scores over anbe sivam. But over all I believe AS has the message that will transcend to the ages.

  Udit narayan is not bad singer, he is far better than kumar shanu. For me kumar shanu sucks big time. It is okay for Udit narayan to win an award in my opinion.

  Udit does not stand a chance before SPB. But you can't give award to SPB every year. Because other singers have to be recognised also.

  SPB does not agree many offers likes before. He , jesuthas and Janaki take rest now . If anything significant and necessary they work as playback singers.

  It was indeed very bad news. to be honest with you I have seen both legend of bhagat singh and anbe sivam. and Ajay Devgan does not justify his character in the movie and nowhere close to kamal hassan when the performance is concerned. Anyway this again proves that the committee is so biased. Why madhavan was not even considered for best supporting actor?

  Well...my brother was also saying the same thing...that the movie was being considered for next yr...tht was what sun tv had to tell.
  
  Anyways..I think they would have said,the movie was being considered to be screened for the international film festival..or something.

  and another shock "Devdas" is named as the best *entertainer*. i guess ppl there dont know what is the meaning of * entertainment *.
  
  and more, the best art director went to the art director of "Devdas". what this proves is that a good art director is a guy who creates some gigantic,polished floors, glittering walls,huge pillars and other crap.
  
  the award must be given to prapakaran forhis extraordinary sets(u cant identify which one is a set and which one is real) in "Anbe Sivam".
  
  the train accident sets, the after-myth effects after the bus acident, flooded streets of bhuvaneshwar, a brilliant wall painting of Lord Shiva,a really beautiful corporate office (it looked gorgeous, pure white walls and pillars).

  Agreed; KM was good and perhaps deserved the award. Even if Anbe did not win, was it actually nominated for anything? Was it in running for any awards?
  
  To be honest I haven't seen A Devgan's acting myself. But seeing the other comments on Devgan, it seems like Kamal would have been a better choice.

  I agree with kdot. Prabhakaran did an outsatanding work as an art director. I especially wondered at the 'salvador dali' method of 3-d depiction method, used for that Corporate wall-painting of siva, as also the flooded streets of orissa and the storm.
  
  Guess, there were political machinations against 'anbE sivam', more than it was against 'ramaNA'

  The COMMUNIST thoughts in ANBEY SIVAM migh be a reason that it make lose few awards, which inludes THE 4TH BEST ACTOR'S NATIONAL AWARD FOR KAMAL.
  
  Also MADDY and PRABHAKARAN could have win NATIONAL AWARD too.
