HI! Which film is the biggest hit in Tamil? Very vague it might seem, but I am a telugu person... So I just wanted to know about the Tamil industry, thats all! In telugu industry, the biggest hits are like this ->
1) Indra (Chiranjeevi,2002) - 40.3 crores GROSS
2) Tagore (Chiranjeevi,2003) - 37.3 crores GROSS
3) Okkadu (Mahesh Babu,2003) - 28.3 crores GROSS
4) Kushi (Pawan Kalyan,2001) - 28.9 crores GROSS
5) Simhadri (NTR Jr,2003) - 27.3 crores GROSS
For example, take Indra it made 40.3 crores GROSS, So we have to remove the cost which is paid to theatre, entertainment tax. On avg its 30%... So the SHARE (or INCOME) producer gets is about around 31 crores. I am not talking about the producer's profit, but the income he gets in his hand. So if some one can tell me about the biggest hits in KOLLYWOOD like this, it would be great. If not precise figures, if you get approx figures also it would be nice.

One thing now is Autograph is the biggest hit of Tamil Cinema now. Saamy was the biggest hit of Tamil Cinema beating Padaiyappa's total collections. Now, Autograph has beaten Samy collections and is the biggest hit of Tamil Cinema.. that's all.. no taking into account of inflation, deflation, mannangatti, etc.. As for now, Autograph is the biggest hit!

Hi, Though we can not compare tamil mega star "Rajani" and Telugu Mega star "Chiru" Still i could say chiru is the best because he is versatile actor he has so many classical and family films in his credit. As far as acting concern chiru is the best. why people most likes rajni is, he is good person and good human being. We should compare on the screen not outside the screen right ?

Vasu
Leave Rajini fans ask some neutral fans then everyone will accept that Rajini is better actor than chiranjeevi when it comes to acting. Just because he has not done serious movies, does not mean that he is bad actor. Watch all of his movies and all of chiranjeevi movies then you will understand Rajini is more versatile and better actor than Chiranjeevi. Only thing chiranjeevi does better than rajini is dance.

It is incorrect to say that box office takings cannot be measured.India is a leader in software technology. It is a simple task with good systems.
Everytime a ticket is purchased it needs to go through a central database. This is very easily done in London for shows either in cineamas or theatres.
We can get read about weekly box office takings in UK and USA, why not India.
I have been reading aBOUT Tamil cineama for a long time.I think new movies always beat the records of old movies. This could be due to more seats and higher prices.
