Rahman-Mani Ratnam combination has once again struck gold with Aayitha Ezhuthu album. The first three-day audio sales have crossed the magic figure of 1 lakh!
No Tamil film audio has done such fantastic opening sales in recent times. Said a spokesperson of Sony who is marketing the audio: "Aayitha Ezhuthu audio sales is phenomenal at a time when music industry is going through bad times. And people seems to be going crazy about the songs."
Normally a hit Tamil audio sale is around 40,000 to 50,000 units sold over a period of three months. But this audio has created history as it may cross 3 lakhs even before the release of the film and if the film is a hit, it will do business close to 5 lakhs units, something that happened a few years back regularly with audios of Indian, Gentlemen, Roja, Bombay and Alaipayuthe.
The most popular song in the album is dol dolsung and followed by nenjam ellam

Frankly, through aayutha ezhuthu, AR.RAHMAN did not return but went far way behind. Song are not up to expectations. I am one of those AR.R fans who were expecting he would have done another UYIRE, BOMBAY, KANNATHIL MUTTHAMITAL, or even ROJA. But i was totally dissapointed hearing the songs. Nothing else but techno except for 2 songs which are the only nice to hear. I thought AR.R will atleast do something special for ManiRathnam's films but this time that thought did not turned well, or i should say did not turned at all!

how can a director like manirathnam accept songs like yakkai, jana gana, dol dol amare (this is more like a track)in his movie? I think Rahman liked his experiment/experience with Boys songs and follows the trend from there.

The film by itself is not going to satisfy any moviebuff who expects something classy and mature as 'Kannathil..' from Mani,ManiRatnam needs a hit badly and the tunes are set in synch with the movie,so one can't expect brilliant melodies like 'Vellai pookal' or 'Oru deivam thantha' from Rahman. After the movie releases we may understand the reason, meanwhile give some more time for the tracks to grow on you.
