Poor Maddy, of late he has not been able to pick the right roles. His character of law student Jagan is not convincing in this too embarrassingly bad film. It is sad that the actor is reduced to nothingness in the watered down version of Serendipity.

The original worked, as John Cussack and Kate Beckinsale were believable characters, which made us fall in love with their frothy romance that depended largely on destiny. Here this ‘desi’version is tacky and quickly deteriorates to a dumb-dumber-dumbest contest.

If you are still curious about the plot here it is- Jagan (Maddy) meets a girl at the Shoppers Stop in Chennai and minutes later they are sipping coffee and discussing about love and marriage, and that too without revealing their name or identity!! The girl Jamuna (Amoga) however is quick to put their name and address on either side of a Rs 100 currency note, which is given as the payment for the coffee! The girl says, “If fate wants us to meet again one of us will get back this Rs 100 note!"

A few months later they are both in different cities getting ready to marry other people arranged by their family but still pine after each other. And after all the confusion and running around, Jagan gets the currency note and the lovers gets united in the end. Maddy as Jagan has a poorly etched out character and he has been photographed badly. The heroines Amoga and Pooja are terribly incompetent.

Amoga looks like a Barbie doll with a blank expression throughout the film. Her costumes (saris mostly) are atrocious and her lip sync with the dialogues is pathetic. The director has used Pooja, who is Jagan’s fiancée as a lurid object of desire and Reema Sen is there in a gust-lust appearance in an item number. And Maddy’s friends in college (Kalabhavan Mani, Damu, Giridhar) look ridiculous as students! The only saving grace in the film are the songs tuned by Bharadwaj.

Verdict: Dissappointing

  I haven't seen Jay Jay yet, so i can't comment about the movie... For Vijay fan, I have 2 words to say i.e. "F**k off"! Vijay is a kena baadu. He is crack pot actor, so vijay fans have no right to write bad about other heroes. Maddy is a way far better and appealing hero than the ever stinking vijay!

  Guys don't blame that vijay fan ... the report is a copy/paste from sify.com ...
  sify.com is saying that jay jay is disappointing.
  I haven't seen the movie yet, so i cannot comment on it too. but for ur kind information thirumalai is a hit movie. though i am not a vijay fan, vikram rulezzzzzzz ;)

  Jay-jay was not a big disappointment for me,because i didn't really expect much,I hear this one is a blatant lift of Hollywood 'Serendipity'(media reports the mega-hyped 'Ennaku 20..' is also a copy of this one).I don't have any comments on copying as i haven't seen 'Serendipity'.But about 'Jayjay',the movie was outrageously silly in its narration without a good screenplay,Madhavan looked bad,acted bad,his emotions in this film were mostly exagerrated and loud,this is high-time the man takes care of his looks and choice of his roles,and the new-find Amogha blinks,blinks,blinks and that's all she does in the whole movie other than some lip movements(dialogue delivery aam,kashtam..).Reema sen's glamour song is surely worth of it,as the movie has nothing to offer for us,we are forced to enjoy the teasy lines penned by vairamuthu(though objectionable at points).Saran could have done a better job.Hmmmmm.

  The director seems to be a big English movie fan. ONE...He Copied SERENDIPITY scene by scene (Three hour movie = One & half hour of Serendipity + one hour of Tamil Cinema readymade masala)
  TWO...He copied a scene from TRAINING DAY (Denzel Washington)..The scene Madhavan is taken by Parasuram Brothers to a bath tub for killing & they find the wallet of thier sister in his pocket. SO MUCH FOR TAMIL FILM ORIGINALITY!!! Director..JAY JAY..Tamil Movie goers..BEB BEY

  I am not a fan of anybody and am not a fanatic like some people out there...Beleive me when I say this, Jay Jay is utter crap. One of the worst movie I ever seen in Tamil. This guy madhavan acting is like pants...Manirathnam with this talent can make anybody a good actor...Madhavan got his name like that, I guess...If mani cant make prasanth, Anand and Heera put up a great performance in Thiruda Thiruda, even though the movie kind of sucked...I guess even I can act in Mani's movie and receive accolades....Madhavan to me makes last in my young talents list and bit overrated actor, that mainly because of girls, who look at him more than his performance. I have seen girls who have watched parthale paravasam 5 time, do you think they liked the movies or just the look of the actor. Thirumalai wasn't that bad, am sure vijay can act, I was impressed....Pithamagan was good, something different...surya proved to be the most versatile actor in the current line up, Vickram was good in few scenes, but a bit Exaggerated chararcter tough. I dont even want to get to anjenaya, I am sure most of you would have already forgot about that movie. To just to recollect your memory, this movie was released for deewali 2003.
