S.P.Balasubramanam's very first song in Tamil

In 1968 S.P.Balasubramaniam entered Tamil Cinima with his maiden song 'Malligaipoo vaangi vandhaen punnagaiyin ninaivaha', in the film,Paalkudam, music rendered by M.S.Viswanathan. But by mistake S.P.B. himself tells in every interview that 'Ayiram nilave'in AdimaiPenn as his first song. I do hope that S.P.B himself will admit that the song in Paalkuadam was the very first song he sang Tamil,if he reviews his records.

Sofia Angel,
My info is based on one of SPB's interview. He has clearly siad that his first song with IR was oru naaL unnOdu oru naaL. If you say it's not then let it be as it is. There's no point in defending.

Roshan,
okay. i have never heard such song. :-(.
i think Sofia Angel would have got confused just because that movie comes first in the hirerarchy.
Sofia Angel,
that song might also have got released in the same year. but the question is about the first song sung by SPB in mastero's music and i think it should be 'oru naaL', undoubtedly.
( i think it should be - undoubtedly... :-)) even i am confused... anyway... :-))....... )

I believe SPB's first song in Tamil is "Iyarkai ennum ilhaya kanni" in the movie Santhi Nilayam. His popular song had been (then) Aayiram nilave vaa in Adimai Penn.

The question about SPB's first tamil song has been discussed in many forums.
During his concert in Atlanta in 2000, SPB answered my question about his first song like this. His first song from an unreleased movie "Hotel Ramba" was with L.R.Eswari. He sang a couple of lines of that song "Aththaanodu eppadi irnthu..". His first song from a released movie was "iyarkai ennum..".
But, during my visit to my home in Madurai last month, I searched my collections and found the article that came out in Bommai magazine in August 1970. Actor Sivakumar interviews SPB. From this interview, it is very clear that the original poster K.R. Sankar is absolutely correct that his first song is "Malligaipoo vaangi vandhaen" from the movie 'Paal kudam'.
For your ref, the scans of that artcile are here.

Thank you very much Mr.Thenraja, for producing the excellent article from your collections in which SPB told Sivakumar that his first Tamil film song released was 'Malligai poo vaangi vandhaen' from 'Paalkudam'.

mr.thenraja, great of u 2 down load the article. can u possibly down load the cover. i did buy a whole load of old bommais and pesum padams and my friend threw them away!!!!!!!! imiss them. it was only a small collection from 1977-1981 but still...i miss those covers. i now collect cinema express and dcinema but its just not the same. even the colour seems beetter then.
i met an old jayasanker fan in south masi street last year!!!!he was shocked and surprised that a tamil film fan would track him down all the way from london. i also saw an old cinema now used as a carpark in south masi street as well. i saw dhool at chinthamani(the front seats were broken) and student number 1. madurai is just a great city only sad thing was that there was no water in vaigai river.

raju,
Only during my next trip to mdu, i can put my hands on the bommai covers (2 yrs from now.) There were days when we used to buy bommai(1969-1970), pesum padam (1966 or so) and bind them together. While looking for P. Suheela articles, I got this one. I am still looking for Bommais and pesum padams to get such rate articles.
madurai has not changed much except the traffic but seems cleaner.

thenraja.....thanks for the reply. i will start saving up and will meet you in madurai in 2 yrs time....hahaha. i can understand why its hard to change madurai. the central area roads are small and narrow and very old and i believe should be kept as it is. ofcourse the suburbs have changed. i do love madurai and its a special place regarding architecture, people etc....last year i made sure i took lots of pictures of street paintings and shop signs.
