The senior and old aged actors are facing difficult time in Tamil cinema. Within one or two years they will be kicked out. Recent films proves that they have no market.

Rajini - Baba
Kamal - Aalavandan, PKS and 5 Thanthiram
Vijayakant - Devan, Raajiyam and Narasima
Sathyaraj, Prabu and Karthik - No hits for past three years.

Look at the young actors, they are really performing well

Vikram - Dil, Gemini and King
Madavan - Minnale and Run
Vijay - All most his films are super hit

Kamal, Rajini, Vijakanth, etc - Please get lost!

  Vijay - If the movie is made to run for 25 days you call it a Super Hit. In one theatre he will finance and make it run for 100 days to show that the movie is a Hit. After Friends there is not hit from Vijay

  Thanks Janani. I guess age sometimes play a part in the movies.You see many 'older' stars in the U.S and te U.K who play the main characters in movies. Perhaps the difference in Tamil movies and English ones is that their audience are fine with older 'heroes' whereas Tamil heroes are ecpected to be young. Sivaji has played older main characters in movies. MGR never did!! In his last movie (Madurai Meeta Sundharapaandiyan), he was over 60 and played a young prince. He wasn't convincing.....at all!!!! With guys like Kamal, and perhaps Rajini, they can still manage to portray younger characters aged in their 30s and 40s, even though Kamal is in his late 40s and Rajini is in his early 50s. Their physiques are still OK. Make-up, and wigs can take care of the rest. Vijayakanth is around the same age group as these gentleman, but nowhere near the physical condition. He is overwieght (watch out, Prabhu! You are next!!) and looks his age. The younger guys that are coming in are a saving grace. Yes, tamil cinema needs younger blood, so we will never have an MGR situation again; we still need Kamal & Rajini for experience.

  And I don't think of it as people making a joke out of it, becuase after all this is a forum and if I really wanted I could still agree that 13 - 29 were the teenage years, becuase that is what I think.
