Shivaji is one of the greatest actors in the World cinema. I wanted to make a complete list of Best and Memorable movies of Shivaji.But election for the First place was very difficult. Seven movies are my favourites for the First place.

  I selected only 10. Out of 250 movies, more than 200 movies are best. His movies failed at Box office, but his acting never fails.
  
  What Bharathi Raja told is 200% correct. So many people taught us how to write Tamil, how to learn tamil. But shivaji only taught us How to Speak Tamil.

  Barring a few movies like pilot premnath, hitler umanath ( even here only the roles were stupid and nothing with his acting) its an herculean task to pick his best 10 ( the thread should be renamed to best 100).
  
  His acting seems overacting to many of the youngsters here as they have not seen any acting in todays movies. Today's actors come and go, dance, fight, fiddle, gape, stare and generally clown. Bereft of any histrioncs in today's movies Sivaji's acting is bound to be over acting. So it isnt surprising to read all this over acting stuff - but I can only pity them for their ignorance. Sivaji is peerless and incomprable, nobody can hold a candle to him. The indisputed emperor of acting. For generations to come I dont think anyone can even dream of matching his extraordinary and amazing reportoire of histrionics. Total perfection - acting par excellence. Any dolts who belittle his towering achievments are speaking out of plain ignorance and can be brushed away.

  True words from you..These people don't know when parasakthi released and what a great impact it done in Tamil cine field..Do you realise when people ask a queation like "What is All time best movie in tamil" some say tamilan,Red,roja koottam,padayappa,PKS ..Ha ha These people never seen movies released before 1990..What can we say?Some genius from this forum told He knows MGR and doesn't know who is TMS..Ha ha..What a joke?

  Do you know sivaji released 19 movies in a year and most of them croosed 100 days and 4 of them silver jublee?
  
  One more fact ..There is only one movie in tamil movie history which ran 100 days in it's second release after 2 years..That is 'Veera paandiya kattabomman'

  Sivaji did overact. But it was consistent with the times. Some of the mythological/historical movies needed that kind of acting. Can anyone repeat his majesty as Karnan, Kattabomman? Looks like he never bothered about image building and kept on acting irrespective of the story!

  The statement is incorrect.I lived in Colombo and Tiruchi for a couple of years in the early 80s.Every other day there will be an old Sivaji movie playing in a cinema in the city.And the hall will usually have a decent crowd.He must be the only actor other than MGR whose old movies were doing considerable business long after their original release.
  In fact until 1982,the longest running Tamil movie in Ceylon was Vasantha Maaligai.It ran for 42 weeks.This was only bettered by "Guru" the Kamal-Sridewi starrer in 1982.Guru ran for 1 year and 6 months in one cinema in 1982.
  You need another Sivaji to rekindle the flame of cinema magic back into Tamil movies.Kamal for his part does contribute immensely.
