i saw citizen and the &st half is simlpy horrible for a thriller:songs ,cinematography and screenplay are not good.the 2nd half is excellent.as a fan of ajith ,for sure it would be a hit.as i am waiting also for alavandan .i hope that kamal has done a good job.alavandan must be the blockbuster of 2001.

  I watched Citizen And here are my views and comments about this movie.
  
  About Story Line:
  
  Absolutely a baseless story. Three persons (though they are in higher posts in the government) killing the entire village and the village is vanished from the country map is an idiotic plot.
  
  It shows the lack of imagination from the Storywriter. Also the project of building a dam against the sea flood (?) brings laughter to me.
  
  Ajith: He tries to impress the public by doing different roles. But most of his make-up does not fit to him at all.
  Kamal's "Indian" is incomparable to this. I appreciate Ajith's effort on this and certainly not for his different roles because it is not up to the mark.
  
  Romance between Vasundra and Ajith
  Character is again not a realistic relationship.
  
  Nagma: She is an utter waste and hard to see her in a CBI Officer role.
  She vanishes like "Athipatti" in the climax.
  
  Music: Deva did not do well his home work. "Vaali" was his master piece.
  
  Direction: Not so convincing in the kidnapping scenes. He has to improve a lot to give a thriller.
  
  Conclusion:
  
  1. Social awareness theme is appreciated.
  2. "Hero going behind heroine to make "Love" and the Director to the Light boy of that film says that this is a very different film"
  This is not happening in this film.
  
  3. Unlike Vijay and Prashanth, Ajith
  tries to improve his acting and
  does not always come with the
  costume of three piece suit and a

  I’ve been reading the reviews of Citizen through out. I went to see the film after reading all these comments; reviews and getting the opinion of others whom have already watched the film.
  
  I am a die-hard fan of Kamal Hassen. I’ve grown up watching his films and to me he is the No1 actor of Indian films. He has all the talents of matching international standards (I think, to a certain extent he has done it)
  
  BUT!!! That does not mean that no body can match Kamal’s standards in the future. Oru Sivajikku piragu oru Kamal vanthathu pole nichayam oru Kamalukku pin innoruthar varuvar”. In CITIZEN, through out the film it has been proved that “Antha Oruvar” is none other than Ajith.
  
  In the first half except for the kidnapping scenes he comes as a soft, cool person and he does it just like that? There’s nothing called acting. His expressions are so natural specially when he deals with Vasunthara. He doesn’t have to work hard to do those type of scenes ‘cause his eyes alone does it. Eye expression is a big asset for any talented actor/actress.
  
  In the 2nd half of the film he really proves how far his acting has improved. One should remember that this improvement has come within a very short period compared to other good, better and best actors. I cannot imagine anyone of his lot (Vijay, Prashanth, Vikram etc etc) showing such a matured performance.
  
  People who have gone to see the film with a fixed and set mind are the people who criticize most. Many compare the film with Indian and Gentleman. In both films the reason for the revenge was due to a personal loss. But in this film it’s completely different and highly justifiable and more than anything there is no irritating comedy which makes our ear drum burst. That was a big relief. Another relief was no Manorama type character.In the flashback scenes each and everyone has done there part well even the guest performers. They really bring out the innocence inside them.
  
  Nizhalgal Ravi’s getup was superb and Nagma has at last proved she is a talented actress.
  
  Another important thing that really needs to be commended is the dialogue. WELL-DONE MR BALAKUMARAN.
  
  The minuses are Vasunthara, the jungle duet, flying scenes of Ajith, Nagma’s assistant (Nayar), the question of how Pandiyan escaped and kidnapping scenes not being exciting . Deva could have done better. However the core of the film lies on the 2nd half.
  
  The film is a milestone for Ajith. As for the debutante director Saravan Subbaiya- “Neenga Jeyichuteenga.”
  
  What ever said and done the film is a definite “HIT”

  1) Who gave dubbing for Nagma... It sux totally. The voice sounds like kollangudi karupayi...
  
  2)The person who gave dubbing for vasundra das is the same one who gave for Aishu in Jeans. But I dunno why the dubbing here is extremely poor. Vasundra's tamil looks like Sun TV Programme hosts. Horrible " vazharthu kaaga sagavum risk edukka thayaar" . Hair plucking dialogue(trnslate to tamil)
  
  3) Ajith in 9 roles.. nonsense. Saying Ajith is next kamalhasaan is like saying silambarasan is next rajini kanth. Its nonsense to compare Ajith and kamal, vijay and rajini. They r who they r..
  let them do good movies one at a atime and if they r good enugh ajith will become the next kamalhaasan. Ajith, can watch kamals old movies like adu puli attam, ninaithale inikkum etc and learn something ...
  
  4) This movie has a lot to tell in 3 hrs. I heard that most of the movies were edited out and dropped. It couldnt be more obvious. The whole movie looked heavily unplanned and disconnected.
  
  5) Among the things that saravanasubiah should plan( he shld plan in the first place) is the time factor he cannot take a movie for 4 hours and then edit it.
  
  6) Most make-ups like artificial and are not nice
  
  7) Vasundra das is not glamorous , she is fat and ugly.
  
  8) Flash bak scene, one of the worst in the movie, Ajith as subramani, cries at every possible opportunity, shouts too much and over acts.
  
  9) Tying everyone to chain and pushing down the sea is not believable. Need something more convincing
  
  10)Bad screen play. Horrible Music, foreground and Back ground.
  
  11) Too much publicity. I think Saravan subiiah should let his work speak for himself. This work is average. It wud be better if he lets his movies speak instead of highly publicizing it. It only raises the expectation and subsequent dissapointment.
  
  12) The judgement of ajith in the end is average and i dont think its harsh enugh to really upset a criminal.
  
  13) This movie is not a different movie, But an half boiled egg.
