  it also depends on male counterpart.. right.
  anyway, lakshmi's beauty lies in the way she presents her beauty so casually and in that she wasn't that beauty conscious in her acting as many other actresses of her time.. i mean showing a tinge of 'shringar rus' even while crying. lakshmi also got being noticed only during/after her characters in 'sila nerangalil sila manithargal' and 'oru nadigai naadagam parkiral'. she is one of those actresses who appeared young even at her 40s and may be 50s (like her male counterpart sivakumar). i think untill recently she was acting as heroine in kannada.
  apart from the above two films, her performance in samsaram athu minsaaram is great. also, she has done some higher official roles like police inspector (ruthra and uthaya geetham), district collector (palaivana rojakkal) etc. with such grace. ofcourse, none can beat her in brahmin roles. (she captured the audience just in two scenes in rhythm.) also, there are too many examples for her versatile performance.
  though her private life is often criticised, she should be appreciated for her brave decisions.
  she is one of those sensible ladies who have interest in politics and national affairs.
  i think, her talk show is currently very much appreciated. (?is that in vijay). though, there are comments like, sometimes she claims expertise in every field and overcomes her limits in this show.
  anyway, she is definitely one of the veterean actress who is less recognised for her talent with no 'pattam's as for nadigaiyar thilagam(savithri), who is a great artist without doubt.
