Finally Kamal has come down to make a remake of a Hindi film.Saran directs the movie(????),(he can have good sleep in the months to comeat his home,Kamal will take care of it all)... What do you think?Music may be by our 'Thiruttu thendral' Deva..lets see.

  Faithful is an English word which means true, realistic, authentic, close, accurate, exact.
  
  If you read it, in the context of the sentence, the word "faithful" means full-fledged, authentic, exact and true remake of the English original. To refresh your understanding of English language, faithful remake doesn't mean that the process of remake itself is a faithful act. Also, FYI, in English language, a word gets a meaning depending on the context of a sentence and not by virtue of its literal sense as some ignorant people like you mistake it to be.
  
  I never commented on what KH or K.S. Ravikumar did was right or wrong. But I was just trying to answer Baba who posted a question regarding on which movie had Thenali based upon.

  Coming back to the separate discussion, regarding movies remake, my opinion is:
  Remaking movies is not bad as such but claiming that it’s your own movie after remaking an existing movie is a very wrong act. Many Kamal movies had been good examples of this (with some of his movies are either faithfully remade or partly inspired by Hollywood movies). It is not wrong to remake them. In fact some of the remade movies are better than the original. But claiming full credit for some one’s work is very bad indeed.

  I think it's become a trend in the recent future that most of Kamals' movies are lifted directly or inspired from Hollywood. Similarly, most of Vijay's films are faithful remakes of Telugu super hit films. In the case of Vijay, he or the producer legally buy the remake rights and don't claim credit or ownership for the original screen-play. But in the case of Kamal or some other film makers like Ram Gopal Verma they just remake Hollywood films without having legal copyrights.

  But just imagine buying remake rights for a Hollywood flick. The cost would be manifold than the actual production cost of the film. It's practically impossible for Indian film makers to "legally" buy screen-play copyrights for English movies. But then the least they can do is at least accept "informally' that the script is not original instead of claiming full credit for these movies. That's why film makers like Kamal Haasan, Ram Gopla Verma and a whole bunch of Bollywood and Malayalam film makers are shown in a very poor light. Personally, I'm not totally averse to remakes as long the remake does full justice to the original. But I hate when people start claiming it as their original work. Just my 50 paisa worth.

  Fair enough: but even if I write this in the Food section and the Sports section, the fact still remains that if it's bad for Kamal to be in a movie based on another, then Rajini has also done the same here. (PS: I have no issue with Rajini being a Kannadiga)
  
  Though you're not accepting the 'justification of plagiarization', the fact remains that this rule of your only applies to Kamal, and not anyone else. And this casts a serious doubt on whether you are genuinly concerned about this issue.

  Does that mean if someone 'plagiarises' WITH SHAME, then it's OK with you??
  
  Also, you never did like Kamal; because you are a Rajini fan, you seem to think that you need to hate Kamal. Whatever. BUT since when did Kamal become your deciding factor on what makes you proud to be Tamil or not? Even if Kamal meets your standards, you'll still dislike him.   Then WHO does that credit go to? WHY was Rajini in that Hollywood based movie, and WHY aren't you ashamed to be a Tamil because of this?

  Ok guys, stop fighting. The fact is that most of the indian movies in the past few years have been "lifted" from english mvie, with minor modifications. If the english producers were to take legal action, all our directors & script writer will be in jail. (ha! ha!).

  Anand, I never understand u. I thought K is defending KH and K is a ardent fan of KH and Vikram fan and not a Rajni or Vijay fan as far as I could see.
