Should we consider Keerthena's acting in Kannathil Muthammittal as superb.

To me any average brat at the age of nine could do the job. To me she landed the job because of her father and mother. Well considering that her performance as superb is overdoing it . To me she did a fair job. What do you guys think?

Going to Rameshwaram alone just shows her desperation-any bold kid wud do that in such a situation.

I think she did well. Not all 9 year olds would dare face the camera and act as someone else.I only found a bit or2 irritating."Play",I don't think she acts better than Prashanth but definitely acted better than the 2 adult heroes in KM.

What should be the reason for the disaster of the movie?
Is it because of Madhavan?
May not be. There is no question of his overacting and underacting.. bcoz he doesn't even act upto whetever is required by that role, pure absurd. But still it is tolerable as our audience never expect much from heros of MR movies.
Is it bcoz of Simran the movie was flopped?
Certainly not. She did fair justification for her role.
Well is it the treatment which made the movie bomb in the box office?
Cannot be.. MR has done a execellent job in portraying the SL Sequences.. no arguments.. he is the one and only who can give such a classy touch in which he didn't fail at all.
Is it the music not upto the mark in the film?
No. Irrespective of Music directors(IR or ARR) manirathnam always get the best out of them. This movie is no exception.
So the possible reasons are two. Very weak script and last but not least this liitle girl keerthana.
Whenever this little girl pops up into screen the audience naturally lose the passion for watching the movie. But very unfortunate major part of the movie is eaten by this girl.
Immediately some intellectuals may start crticising that normal filmgoer cannot understand the class of her acting.. that's stupid. It is again proved that Media(Magazines and Television) can take someone to top though they don't deserve it. I can see whole of the media is praising Keerthana's performance and the film, If atleast 20% of this praise had a positive response from the audience the movie wouldn't have been such a disaster.
If the same praise and publicity had given to the film 'kutty' no doubt it would have been a blockbuster like Azagi or Sethu. Because it had a natural script and performances(Especially that little girl). In Kutty kids were shown like kids but not like prematured adults.

I agree Keerthana's acting was not phenomenal and all that....but she sure does not deserve such bashing! It was o.k-neither too good, nor too bad. There's nothing to criticise her this much.I wud give her 7.5 out of 10 points. But,I feel any kid's acting for that role cudn't have been better. Moreover, ivlo chinna ponna ippidi thittarthukku eppadi ungalukku manasu varadu??????
{In Kutty kids were shown like kids but not like prematured adults.}
Do u mean that Amudha was shown as a pre matured adult?I don't disagree with this, but I don't find anything wrong in portraying her as a prematured adult-coz,she IS one!Her character is such.In real life, not all kids have the same maturity level and sensitivity.Amudha was a kid who was more mature and sensitive than other kids of her age, that's it.
And ,what on earth is wrong with Madhavan's acting?Perrrrrrfect justice to "Tiruchelvan"'s character,I wud say.

First let me make it clear I don't have anything against keerthana. Infact we can encourage kids who are performing fair better. But in this movie is it really worth praising this girl for her overacting. The very basic point is overacting of this kid is one of the primary reason of the failure of this movie which should have been avoided by a legend like MR. Amyway i wish her all success in the film carreer.
FYI, she is charging 20 lakhs for her next film which is solely bcoz of the media which put her into the top in spite of such a poor performance in the debut movie.. I pity MR.. and i pray for him.. poor Manirathnam.

many of u ppl seem to find the character she played irritating. although this is totally off-topic, i'd like to comment.
it's funny to see so many of u ppl out here who feel than she plays an adult and r SO IRRITATED by her with one even wanting to slap her left and right. all i can say is that i find this reaction very disturbing.
the comments made by some of u about the character she potrays r so weird and it is compounded by the fact that by the standards u ppl set, the children in 'anjali' were 'spoilt, pre-matured, misbehaving, obnoxious, disrespectful, mischevious'.
i really don't see any scence in the movie where keerthana's character was any of these. all she can be accused of is being too charismatic. why isn't anyone objecting to the assertions made about the character she potrayed?
Someone,
u're comment that keerthana's performance is worse than prashant's performances, yet better than madhavan's and simran's performances is the biggest load of crap (excuse my language, but i'm expaserated) i've ever heard.
i cannot for the life of me understand how u could consider prashant to be a better actor than either madhavan or present-day-simran.
:),
u find a small girl going to rameswaram crazy? it happens everyday. children run away EVERYDAY.
the film was like a documentary? why? beacuse mumtaz didn't make a guest appearance? *give* *me* *a* *break*!
dravidian,
i don't read reviews much. so i didn't know that her performance was praised by the media. i'm just an ordinary guy who likes watching movies. i don't even consider myself to be an expert judge on acting skills (i'm not on the national award jury). the only way i can judge acting is by picking "flaws". in keertana's case, i couldn't find any glaring flaws. except a bit of overacting in her introduction scene as Hehuha pointed out.
and it's pretty silly blaming the movie's poor showing on her.

play,well said!Kai kodunga!
To me atleast, the movie was flawless(or,atleast, the nearest to flawless copmpared to other movies today).Extremely natural and realistic. As I said earlier,I feel Keerthana acted to the best of her abilities and since its her 1st movie, give her some time guys!

'the film was like a documentary? why? beacuse mumtaz didn't make a guest appearance? *give* *me* *a* *break*! '
Oh Yaa.. that's great thinking.. but have to admit the fact.. neither films with full of craps(including Mumtaz hip hop #) nor the films which substitutes sleeping pills(One like KM) should be clearly rejected by audience.

Oops!! Sorry!! read 'should be clearly rejected by audience' as 'Should be accepted by audience'
