'A movie must speak visually'-- Grammar of FilmMaking.
is that true?? and who are these people to frame the grammar of filmmaking. Cant films have dialogues???true that dialogues should not be forced in a movie.true that dialogues should not be written to advice the audience(yawnnnn.....).SO, whatz the actual proposition of dialogues in a movie??I have mixed feelings abt movies like "INDIAN" which is visually grippin as well as some brilliant dialogues by SUJATHA--"ELLA NAATILEYUM LANJAM IRUKU. ANGALAAM KADAMAYA MEERATHUKUTHAAN LANJAM.ENJA KADAMAYA SEIRATHUKAE LANJAM!!"--- MAYBE THERE MUST BE A PROPER MIXTURE OF DIALOGUES AND VISUALS. In this thread we will discuss about the movies with really good dialogues.
As for me, many brilliant films with gr8 dialogues come to my mind. to start with Veerapandiya Katabomman, Parasakthi,Kapalotiya Tamilan,Nayagan,Indian ,Hey Ram,etc.. and movies with so called puch dialogues with ooosshhhhhhhhh sound like Badsha, Padyappa etc....
My personal favourite is KURIDHIPUNAL. really grippin dialogues. brillinatly written and those dialogues are not forced into the movie not it is a exaggregation. let me put some dialogues.
kamal to naaser during interogation.
"
ovoru manidhnukum oru breaking point-- iyarkayin niyadi"--- the same dialogue will be repeated by Naaser in the next scene.
kamal to naaser
" unnaku munaadi iruntha pooraligal ellam sethu poitanga ,ella, retire aiyitanga. meethi irukaruthu unna maathiri PORIKUMUM POORALIKUM PIRANTHA VANGATHAAN. unaku pinaadi irukura samudhayatha ninachi paar! cinema paartha balaveenamaanavangal irukaanga. avangala arasiyal vaadhigal vaangiduvaanga ella nasukiduvaama".
naaser to kamal
"naan sethal enna maathri 1000 dhanush varuvaanga"
kamal in another scene
"nee setha pullu thaan varum".
and many more gripping dialogues...
