I agree with google.
I think the last real superstar of Tamil cinema will be Rajinikanth.
No actor (at least now) comes even remotely close in terms of popularity and star power to this man.
Instead of one star,I think the spot will be shared by many.
In terms of mass appeal and box-office history, There have been only three genuine tamil superstars ,M.K.Thyagaraja Bagavathor,
M.G.Ramachandran and now Rajinikanth.
If we see bollywood history, K.L.Saigal was the first, followed by Rajkapoor (of course, there was very tough competition among the trio of
Raj Kapoor,Dev Anand and Dilip Kumar, but again Raj kappor IMO was the real superstar of that generation).Rajesh khanna briefly sparkled.
Then came India's star of the millenium and it's most famous superstar, Amitabh Bachhan. After he faded out,
there have been some good actors but nobody to take the mantle of Amithabh.
I do not know if there are any superstars in the telugu horizon after NTR and Chiranjeevi.
Ditto for the Kannada industry. Has any actor emerged in karnataka to don the shoes of the legendary Rajkumar?

Mass appeal is Ok with MGR ,But If you exclude Sivaji in Box-office list ,that means you didn't know the Box office track record of MGR.You have a wrong openion that Sivaji's movies were average hits compared with MGR's .That is tottally wrong .Sivaji's box office track record was equal or better than MGR's.
MGR entered Cine field in 1930's .He acted in 135 movies only .Sivaji entered cine field in 1952 only ,but when MGR retires from cine field sivaji crossed 200 movies .I am not attributing no of movies with box office .But you should know a fact .You should not count the Box office collection and support for an actor only by Whistle sound in the theatre.
* Sivaji is the only actor released two movies on the same day and both crossed 100 days.
* Sivaji is the only actor acted in a tamil film which ran 100 days in it's second release after some years.movie is 'Veerapandiya kattabomman'
* Sivaji acted in 12 movies in a year,4 of them silver jublie,7 of them 100 days movies.
* sivaji's 'Pa' series movies were not only critically good ,but blockbusters in Box office.
I can give you more and more..
So don't think sivaji's box office record is below than anybody, just because he is an extrodinary actor..He is the only actor with class and mass.
