kamal will definitely win the national award for this year for his riveting performance in anbe sivam.Simply one of the best in world cinema.Hats of to kamal the living legend.no over-acting.just amazing to watch it on screen.The current crop of actors have to learn from this genious.Acting is just not crying loud or speaking long dialouges but to live as the character and underplaying the role just as in real live.

  I agree with you kamal is prime contender but the stiff competition might come from none other than our superstar rajini kant for his excellent performance in Baba. He looked so real in that movie and he was awesome with having cigarette in his hand which clearly depicts anmeegavathi. Hats off to rajinikant also

  I think, tough fight to Kamal will come from Simran for her portrayal of a wife in Panchathanthiram. Wow, what "acting" as the wife suspecting the good husband. Had shades of the real life characters.. Too good.. Everytime I watch it I feel sorry for her..

  just about nalan and thamayanthi.. they r not two guys. nalan is a king and thamayanthi is lover cum wife. nalan is the king who is known for his cooking skills as well (nala bagam) like beeman in mahabharath.
  in the story, he would lose his kingdom and go to forest with his wife.
  famous poet during chola period called pugazhendi wrote nalavenba on this story.

  I saw the movie for the second time.His acting is really good,but i have a doubt whether his performance would fetch him a national award.His has really underplayed the role very well and not in one scene you could say he overacted.
  
  You cannot overlook Malayalam and bengali actors.I would not be surprised if once again an actor from either of these film industry getting an award this year.
  
  Is the award given directly to an actor without nominations ? Or, are the nominations announced in public like the filmfare awrads.
  
  Apart from kamal haasan,only charu haasan from TN has won a national award.So our record is abysmal.
  
  We can start a thread on national awards discussing it's procedure of selection,committee members,categories,trivia and of course the details of awards won by every actor/technician irrespective of language.
