I hear this raving comments from most of the Srilankan Tamils of how they speak the pure Tamil and how the have preserved the culture of Tamil. Now they also claim that they had come to Srilanka before the Singhalese did so, as far as they are concerned they have been there for 2000 years.
Now my question is - What did they do all that 2000 years there? Why did they not develop any Tamil literature? What did they do to contribute to the Tamil language? There exists no Srilankan Tamil culture – if some ignorant Singhalese asks them about Tamil culture the proud Eelam nationalist never fail to point out Madurai, Sangam, Cholas & Pandyas – These are the cultures of Tamilians in India – How about Srilanka? It’s rather sad that they shamelessly indulge in culture robbery.
Even in modern times why don't they have movies for themselves - why should they watch Indian-Tamil movies? What ever said & done at the end of the day - Indians are different from the Srilankan Tamils in every sense.
After all being a Srilankan Tamil if they have all this nationalist feeling for Eelam being an Indian-Tamil there is no doubt they will be a hard die Indian nationalist.
Sri Lankan Tamils will not be accepted socially in India. The fact is that they get discriminated in Tamil Nadu perhaps because Sri Lankan Tamils stand in the bottom of the hierarchy system in India?
So, I really do not understand why don’t they have a little pride for themselves and as a first step stop watching any Indian movies?
