According to the latest actress polls, having a good figure matters no more.
Apparantly more people find roja attractve after she gained a slight pot belly and exosed it in 'Super Kudumbam'. Same for meena also in differant movies.
It seems that Jyothika has been recieving tons of letters to do a lot of glamour. They want her to show her navel. Ok, Jyothika has a sexy face (look at the begginning of 'Jannal Katraki Vaa' in tenal) but navel? Noway.
Another shocking thing is that K.R. Vijaya considerd hersellf to be more sexy after she gained weight.
Mumtaz is now supposed to be no.1 in glamour, I rest my case.

I agree with you tamilachi as looks & body is important in actress world nowdays the commercial world needs exposure no more story. Young man like actress who expose and more stories are lacking unlike during Sivaji days where the love secne is done in different way. lets hope for more exposure.

Apparently, men find plump women more attractive than thin ones as this usually means that these women are better built for motherhood (bigger hips and all). Don't know if that is very true in today's context.
But yea, looks are important in the entertainment industry. And fortunately or unfortunately, there is a western influence. Not of the general western audience but the designers. Designers usually design for really slim people and since they set the trend, hollywood follows suit. Thus a lot of asians are mesmerized by western industry, being slim is important in the tamil industry as well.
What annoys me though is not if the actress is plump or slim, but what she wears. Just look at the costumes of the girl who dances in the O Podu song. Arrrrrrgh!

yeah Jo you are right.nowdays there is lot of sexy dance which can bring down tamil morralality.
with actress dress are cut way below hip level.this can have a impact on children, as parents needs to advise them on sex etc. But in today money world we pay for enternainment hence we demand what we want . slim figures is good but an actress has to be fit all round.
