Hi pals,
Gone are the days when we used to listen to beatiful and melodic songs from Ilayaraaja and ar Rahman.
Now has come the time where THR is leading the trend where good music is forgotten and only "poriki" type of songs are being aired(Kutthe, miya miya, mummy chellama, pootu thaake, yelantha palam, machan pere madurey, manmatha raasa, o pode and etc)
Commonlah where are all the good songs?
if the rj"s want to be like poriki, it doesn't mean that we listeners must also follow their taste.
I think it's high time we bring a good and decent image on air.
Note the point where all RJ's are practically airing ghana songs most of the time, (100% in Maran's case)
If u have good ears for music, ur comments might make a difference...SAVE OUR TAMIL MUSIC IMAGE

In today's situation if you look at the likes of O Podu, Al thotha boopathi, Aruva meesa, Thirunleveli Halwa, Manmatha raasa, Appadi podu and the latest "Cheena thana" etc… These songs are made chart busters by whom? People who throng the theatres! The majority of the audience who atch movies in theatres today belong to the 16-35 age group! and all these audience love only cheap gana songs! So, the producers are forced to get good revenue by catering to these cheap tastes!
The audience above 35 + age group in Tamil Nadu still listen to the old MSV/IR melodies. They seldom go to the theatres to watch the contemporary craps! Most of these middle aged people don't even fully know the names of the contemporary Tamil film heroes. For instance, my parents still live in the MGR-kamalahasan era when it comes to Tamil movies! They seldom follow/interested in the current crop of craps (movies) released. They still listen to the old kanandasan/MSV songs or the IR songs.

Contd....
Cheap gana songs or the "hero worshipp" songs has become poplar particularly in (Tamil & Telugu) more than anywhere else in India is because of the 16-35 cinema theatre going age group. I'm not saying every audience are responsible but "majority" of them are. the fault is mutual (both the audience & film makers). Gone are the days where directors/producers compromise on quality over business. But today cinema industry is nothing but business. Cine makers don't think they have a social responsibility. Instead they try to exploit chepa tastes of audience to continue their "business"! So how many of you are ready to dance to the tunes and do faithful hero "worship" for Machan peru madura?

Hi Deepa,
In the thread header, you have mentioned "RJ"s repeatedly. Whats "RJ"? Deepa, please come back to the 2000s and don't stay back in the 70s. We call em "DJ"s now. O'podu...RJ podu!!!
