Is Devdas a South indian novel?

 Is disappointing than no tamil directors have done a movie about Devdas.

Its a Bengali novel by Sarat Chandra Chatterjee. Its not south Indian.

BTW, there have been Telugu and Malayalam versions in south India. Someone told me about an old Tamil version but I cant confirm. I know of 7 versions including a silent one from 1928.

Its a bengali novel. The novel was first made into a movie in bengali and then hindi and then only tamil.

there has never been a tamil devdas. it was made in Telegu and Malyalam.
