It is suprise to here that Kamal Hassan funded the "6 IRUNDU 60 VARAI" when it get held up due to Finicial Crisis. This was said by Mahendran the Director of the Film in an interview with KUMUDAM.

RAJINI use to say that KAMAL help to build his career. He says KAMAL is great in Singapore Programe. Seems to be those are not False. Kamal really buid up his arch rival too. He proves he respect the talent no matter from who it comes. Rajini was not a on the super star status at that time.

  it was really news to hear the above in the murky politics of tamilnadu. watever it may be i still feel 6lirundu 60 varai is the only picture where rajini wanted to show his real acting talent and naturally must hve been a box office disaster.then only he musthve reverted to the peculiar taste of tamilians & captured the hearts. still i rate that pic as the best acting display of rajuni. ur comments.

  add these : "Moondru Mugam " (can anyone forget his verbal 'modhals' with Senthamarai), Nallavanukku nallavan and the unforgettable classic "Aval appaditthaan" (a mvoie with Kamal and Sripriya with IR as the MD, which was way way ahead of its times)
  
  But I rate "Thillu mullu" and "Bhuvana oru kelvikkuri" as his best ever
