It is so non-sense that some tamil actors calling themselves in Nicknames. Vijayganth in his interview calls himself 'Captain'. Is he not ashamed of using 'Captain'? Not only Captain TamilCinema has , Thalapathy, Maaaveeeran, PuratchiTamilan.. what the hell.. Later they may call themselves CM/PM/President and so on.. What do you think about that?

Hi Milton..
I read your postings with interest..
What do you say about the title "Ashtavadhaani" for T. Rajendhar? That seems a little sensible to me..
Also we can talk about titles for other film personalities..
Isai gnani for Ilaiyaraaja..
Isai puyal for Rehman
Thenisai Thendral for Deva..
What is your comments about these titles?

Milton
Just for your information the title of superstar for rajini was given by Dhanu for the movie 'Kaali'. Dhanu wanted to do something different and he came up with this moniker. This title was not given by the PUBLIC and it certainly is not meant to reflect his star status. Similary, Ulaga Naayagan title for Kamal was given by ks ravikumar and thenappan for the movie Thenali and the reason was they sold the FMS rights of the movie for an unprecedented amount. It is not meant to reflect that he has acted in hollywood movies or other foreign language movies. Kamal is the only person in the Tamil filmworld without a permanent title. Know the background of these (silly) titles before you rubbish them

forum,
whether given by individual or public, if a star continues to use it and if it finds acceptance among others, then that is his title.
And waht is emant by "title given by public" Obviously not everybody could come together and be giving titles. And even if substantial number of people (public) give the title, there will always be fans of other actors who may oppose it.
So giving title by public is not at all feasible..
Hence in film world the rule is that whoever gets the title first gets it permanently..
And SuperStar is a title accepted by media, fans and the public to a larger extent. Hence people are willing to consider it as a valid title.
But not craps about Little SuperStar, MakkaL Nayagan, etc..

I find some of the 'habits' and 'practises' are so specific to Tamils only.(tell me if I'm wrong.. How is it in Karntaka? I asked some Telugus and North Indians, they say no) One of this is to give 'titles' for everybody. Right from Periyar thro' Kalaignar, Puratchi Talaivi to Captain and little Sooper staru and Arcottor ..
But something you term it 'logical' seem to be illogical to me. btw, 'Captain' irritates me a lot.
Whoever gives the title either by media or fans or all people .. (first thing, it's wrong in the part of the meia/people to give), its funny that they have it all thro' their life.

Silambarasan is a very good actor. All you idiots who are just eating, sitting and talking about him have no talents. At least Shimbu has talents and he is able to do soemthing. Unlike some of u out there who just sit and talk about others. Try doing something in life and earning a name, don't talk about others who have already earned their names. All you people are not expressing their opinions about them but you are showing your jealousy character.

'Ilaya Thalapathy' is going to be called as 'Puratchi Thalapthy'!!!
Shame!!!
'Revolutionary' (Puratchi) has been misused by Tamil Cinema Guys more than anybody in the whole world

Politician , Cinema Guys (both are same in TN anyways) and the irresponsible Media guys have many properties in common.
I was broken in laughter when I saw a nickname "Inaiya Thalapathy" (Internet Thalapthy) to a the editor in a site.

To boost their self esteem cos no one else would do it for them :)
They just like put 'ice' for one another and then 'kowkuraan' later. That's how all these names come about. They just curry favour each other.

I think that its ok, if say someone like Kamal or Rajini had nicknames. LIke Kamal's nickname, "Padhmashree" and Rajini's "Super Star" These are good, because these people really acomplished something, but nicknames for Vijay, Ajit, Trisha, is all just "theva illathe Build up"
LOL! good one kamal fan.

I agree with Surya. MGR, Sivaji, Kamal & Rajini really achieve many things in cinema world...there is value in their nicknames... Vijay, Ajit & Vikram have done some great jobs but its too early to give nicknames...the worst is Simbu, he get it even earliar then others...
