KAMAL HAASAN, A PHENOMENEON IN HIMSELF needs no introduction all over india. in fact he was the first(and perhaps the only) actor who is saleable in all the 25 states of the country. the very thought that a single actor can try innovations tageted at the elite population all over the country ,thus compensating for the loss of his local front bench audiences , as a way of compensating the profits is his brainchild.
there is no need to describe his achivements as an actor or as a behind the screen performer, those who accept his greatness in his chosen field have accepted that already and those who deny that are cheating themselves.
what is of concern is that in the past 20 yrs since kamal started delivering new and different projects, tamil field hashas earned a good reputation in the indian film sector in terms of class, and no need to say abt the neighbours' envy. now a critical time is reached when the old warhorse seems a little worn out and some filthy attacks had made it more vulnerable. does this eventually stimulates his retirement soon, will tha tamil film industry be able to compensate for the loss?
i think, if he is made to retire, that will be a severe blow to tamil film industry. the following are the reasons:
1. he is the best recognised tamil actor all over india.
2. he has created a trend in recovering over half the production costs thru the hindi distributuin rights which makes a good insulation for the local distributers. it will be years for that trend to encompass the films of the younger generation actors, and if he exits soon, that trend might die.
3. he is an actor of his own class, and is the best hero in terms of acting whole of india (Mohanlal is a close competitor, of course).the guys from the other state have much respect for tamil cinema ONLY because of kamalhasan.
4. his versatility is unparelleled throughout india.
5. if he makes a premature exit, only the self promoting half-boileds like vijayakanth, vijay, and ajit are going to occupy the screen for the rest of the decade, which will be a nightmare for the tamilians to go to theatres.
6. the next close contenders,in terms of performance, Vikram in particular and perhaps Madhavan too, are at least a decade away from filling his vacant slot and good movies will become a rarity.
7. even shankar, maniratnam and co who make good movies are facing flops, and shankar is trying to compensate by directing a half boiled romance story, good quality films will become a rarity after kamal haasan's exit.
sure. bala makes good movies but he would deliver only one in two years.
for all these reasons i think we cannot afford to lose kamal hassan in the next five years. what do the others think ?
intimate.

Kalyan,
I totally agree with you. We cant afford to lose Kamal at least for the next couple of 5 to 7 yrs. He is in great form physically, performing 26 story bungy-jumping, etc etc...people say his face looks old and obviously it cant be the same as what it was in Kaadal Parisu (he looked absolutely handsome and gorgeous in this with a thick moustache) or Nayakan (the macho! that slays a much taller heavier inspector). But for 50 yrs of age, his face looks really good. When people can accept other older actors with such enthuciasm, Kamal is no exception to be rejected.
If we lose him, Tamil cinema goes down by atleast 5 folds of what it is today! None of the present actors, not even madhavan can reach that, he may look charming and act well, but that kind of a versatality cant be seen (skills in terms of dancing, singing, facial expressions).
Hence m if we lose Kamal, we have lost more than a great deal!

One of the greatest achievements of Kamalhasan is,
his ORIGINAL STORY.
Yeah, he himself writes stories for his movies! Because he is a genius, you know.
An example is cited here.
(((Of course one does not have to cite the same information in several places. But, the great "intelligent" Tamils those who think Kamlhasan is great, always overlook this part and never have anything to say about this, which I wonder why.)))
Let us see how they respond now?
----------------------
Edited review of the LEGEND Kamalhasan's latest movie:
5-thanthiram (review)
The base story of this movie is 'blatantly' out of culture for a Tamil Movie. The reason is, the base story was stolen from the English movie 'Very Bad Things' written & directedby Peter Berg (I can't believe Kamal Haasan claimed credit for the story in the Title).
In the past, when cornered and questioned, Director K.S.Ravikumar and Kamal Haasan have repeatedly denied copying or getting inspirations for their Tamil movies from Hollywood movies.
If someone asks the question: "Did you copy the story of 'Very Bad Things' for your movie 'Panchathanthiram' ?"
Here would be the reply by actor Kamal Haasan : "This is K.S. Ravikumar's movie youshould ask him - I just acted in it".
Here would be the reply by Director K.S.Ravikumar : "What was the name again ? 'Very Bad Things' ? Your accusation is Very Bad...I don't copy my movies from any English movies. You guys had similar complaints about me for 'Avvai Shanmugi' and 'Thenali' as well. Let me tell you something - I have never watched any English movies in my entire life !!!
Well, what do we know ??!!
-----------------------------
If you steal from a shop, you are a shoplifter and criminal and, you will be arrested for it and you are a thief. Actually you are a poor bstd to do such crimes.
But some bstds are very intelligent and they will only steal stories from hollywood movies so that the ignorant Tamil or Indian audience will not realize.
The pity is if you commit the latter crime,
You will be called,
a CREATOR,
a LEGEND, and moreover,
"intelligent" people will worry about your forth-coming retirement or decease. because nobody esle can come up with stories or movies like this except our legend.
I am sorry but I have to say this,
Kamlahasan is a Thamizh-trash!
His asslicker Kalyan is worse than a whore!
The earlier his retirement is, the better for the Tamil cinema!

Saradha
BABA is a disaster so crawl into the hole you came from and shut the f*** up. We can understand your disappointment on having been cheated by your Mental Rajini. Dont worry he has cheated a whole lot of people so you are in a crowd and that should be comforting for you. Being a fan of the Mental Rajini you have no right to comment on Kamal Haasan. Mingbai ma? Comprenez? Understand? Purinjitha? Arthamaayintha? Verstehen?
Enough said!

All:
I have to quote some of the outstanding contributions of kamalhasan to Tamil cinema.
Check this out, his asslicker kalyaaaan (Do you know, you act like a real dork?)
1. His movie, Ramlakshman...
The way he shows his love to Lakshman (the elephant) was an outstanding performance.
2. The excellent song in sakallakalavallavan...
Kammbeduththu aaduveen,
Kathicsandai pooduveen,
ek thuje keliye,
eendi nee patheeyee
The whole India should be proud of such a meaningful song.
3. His movie, Guna, esp the scene in which he talks to the calf,
Kannukutti kannukutti
amma seththutaanga kannukutti.
Later he will talk to the Kuyil..
Kuyile kuyile intha kuruviya konnuttaanga kuyile..
He should have been given two oscars for that performance. Nobody has ever done this except our legend.
--------------------
Once he retires,
Our Tamil movies will not be nominated for OSCAR any more...
How many oscar he has won so far?
Won two Oscars for BEST ORIGINAL STORY (Thenali and 5-thanthiram)
5 times nominated for best actor.
2 times won oscar for Best Actor.
1 time for best director (Hey Ram)
What are we going to do if he retires or dies?
May be Kalyaan can take over his place. He is the one and only who can act like a real dork..

saradha,
you behave like a stupid as you usually do. even such diehard "mental" followers have to look, think and say examples of the dud movies by kamal but in reality, every rajni moviegoer has to remove his brain and go for the theatre. but you dont seem to have such problems, as you have no brains at all.

Saradha take a break, judging by your posts, you are probably some demented freak fan of Rajni's living in India with nothing better to do than condenm people in this forum from overseas. So take a rest at it why don't you.
I don't know what people see ion Rajni, please, the contribution of ramya Krishnan was totally confusing in his film Baba, wasn't she have meant to have died in Padayappa??????
Anyway as to the topicc, our cinema will never be able to survive without Kamal Haasan. I am not a die hard fan, but he has produced some movies with the greatest quality ever seen in kollywood. Every tamizhan can now walk down the road and be proud of themselves, becuase of things he has done for the cinema industry.
And by the way Saradha, I am guessing you are probably male and not female, like your name suggests.
And what is with the tone of sarcasm in your voice, people like you should be d/c from this forum. You have nothing constructive to add!

Dear respected Jam:
Does it matter what I am and, whose fan am I?
After all you are not a sexist, I guess.
"""And what is with the tone of sarcasm in your voice,'''
You don't like my sarcasm but you love his arrogance, right?
e.g.,
"""there is no need to describe his achivements as an actor or as a behind the screen performer, those who accept his greatness in his chosen field have accepted that already and those who deny that are cheating themselves"
You are not my type, then.
So, you decided that,
""people like you should be d/c from this forum."""
"""You have nothing constructive to add!""""
I am sorry I did not know, I need to get your permission to post anything here.
My apologies...
Thank you, Jam!
