  o please. You people judge the directors by the number of hits they have made. Forget it.
  The only way to judge the quality of the director is to watch the honesty of his films, and I don't mean stupid fight scenes, and lovers running around trees. They have to have the ability to make the scene come alive with the help of his cinematagropher and actors.
  
  As far as I am concerned there are only a few directors who can do this;
  
  1. Mani Ratnam (irruvar, nayakan, thalaipadhi, kanathil muthamital, etc)
  
  2. Bala (Sethu, Nandha)-this guy has such a great future. he is going to be a great one by the time his career is over.
  
  3. Balu mahendra-sheer poetry to watch this man' s films. Moondram pirrai's climax will go down in cinematic history as one of the most tear jerking and saddest.
  
  4. balachander-the grand master himself, but the quality of his movies have slightly decreased as his grown older. No denying the fact that he is the pioneer and is the biggest influence on any modern tamil director.
  
  5. kamal hassan-Brilliant, but s-c-r-e-w-s up at some point in most of his movies and the s-c-r-e-w- up is so visible and irritating. Virumandi had a brilliant opening and a screen play that told the stroy very well, only to fade away with a overly bloddy and "under seige" type ending. his biggest weakness is his relaince on graphics.
  
  6. suriya: When i saw vaali i thought that we had a great new talent, but alas with his second flick (wijay and jothika-can't remember the name) he came down a bit. hope to see him grow.
